I'm not really a huge fan of electric power. It's ok but there's no noise, nothing visceral that stirs the soul. However, I accept that the guard is and indeed needs to be, changing for the sake of the planet in general (though, population is the issue, cut demand etc but nobody has the political will to address that particular elephant in the room) and the thing that really bothers me with electric stuff (nay, new stuff in general) isn't the power source. It's the styling.
Or, rather, the total lack of it.
For example, I was parked next to a Skoda Something or Other SUV last week and thought it was a BMW, until I saw the badge. So, if petrol engines have to go and resto-mod stuff like this at least keeps the joy of cars that were actually styled available to the public at large, that's something I'm all for.
The wheels on that Manta are awful, but the rest is fine.

I like it, but not the wheels. The Hyundai Pony EV is much better executed.

Definitely a Manta A. The missing quad headlamp setup makes it lose some of it's identity to me.
And they were related to Vivas in the GM family anyway.

I really enjoyed vintage Voltage. Some of the conversions make more sense than the originals. Some not so much. I find the engineering fascinating though.

Indeed, some of them seemed a bit pointless, others were right up my street, very clever how they do a lot of it, but not cheap no doubt the price will come down as more EV's hit the streets.

At least it’s an option to modern dreary wishywashy design.
If we have to go electric may as well have something iconic looking.
I liked it anyway.

being electric, the 'beauty' is only skin deep. It might as well just be a sideboard that looks like a Manta A

The problem with stuff like this is they are city cars for hipsters. No range as they are a compromise, lose the handling of the donor and cost a mint. The Vintage Voltage conversions are £20-30k and use reconditioned Tesla motors that by definition are older thus less efficient designs, hence they are in cars of this size capable of at best 125ish miles, and that's without using heater, lights etc etc. Electric drives are like computers in that they are getting more powerful and longer range quicker than the car models are produced. They always test the VV ones and say "its quick isn't it", well that's the benefit of maximum torque from the off.
I bet that Manta is north of a £50k conversion
