Any Londoners registered their 40 year old plus Cars for ULEZ exemption? I was told by someone at a meet last weekend you can register it online and they will send you some documentation to say its exempt etc? This is the only thing I can find and just thought Id ask here before poking the wasps nest that is TFL. I'm guessing this is the right area?

small number of vehicles are entitled to an exemption from the Low Emission Zone (LEZ).
These are:
Specialist vehicles designed and built for mainly off-road use, but which may use the road for limited purposes (including agricultural and forestry tractors, mowing machines, agricultural and farm machinery and equipment, mobile cranes and road and building construction machinery) Vehicles built before 1 January 1973 Vehicles with historic tax class Vehicles operated by the Ministry of Defence If your vehicle meets any of the above criteria and is registered in the UK, it is automatically exempt and you don't need to register with us. However, you may not qualify for an exemption from the ULEZ charge.
If your vehicle meets any of the above criteria but is registered outside the UK, you are also exempt, but will need to register with us.

Mine has historic Tax which is why I want to apply. Just found the part about proving the vehicle meets ULEZ standards confusing due to emissions.

I read that as being automatically exempt if in Historic tax bracket and UK registered. Knowing how reality can clash with anything from the government it might be worth a phone call or email to confirm.

So weridly If you use the tfl Car checker it says I have to pay both charges to enter London. I thought I would register my Car with them to see if they would make it excempt. As soon as I go through the 'Register My Car' part It says there is no need, It's already exempt :S Very odd. I checked it with my other Car and that one wanted evidence so it must right.

Tried the same for my 1980 TR7v8, says the same as yours that it's exempt, on the other hand my 86 range rover isn't so it seems to work, just means if I want to go into London I will have to use the TR or Elan!

Ahh good to know!!! Maybe it’s just how the site works with classics at the moment then . Don’t want a fine to drop through the door that’s all, I find dealing with TFL like talking to a brick wall from experience

When I checked via their checker: -944 Turbo and S124 E320 required a charge to enter -Neither my ST220, M3 or the now sold Mondeo 2.5T did need a charge to enter.
