The Gathering is the show of the year, a view that is shared by anybody who has been and experienced it.
And as ever, the people make it what it is. Seeing many of my dearest pals in one place is an absolute treat, but moreso this year.
It's hard to not reference the vacuum of 2020, but needless to say we were all ready for RRG21.
Huge thanks to HoTWire , HARDCORE , VIP , Colonelk , rmad and basically anyone involved in setup and cleardown, you're the GOAT.
Anyway, enough rambling, here's some pictures, sorry for the shaky quality, I was having a lens malfunction and didn't actually realise until I got home and started processing what I had taken.
As always, the show starts on the drive down;
Tidy Nova, remember when the saloons were the poor relation?
Rescued e38 with all of the Alpina goodies
Lovely Laurel
Powerful Patrol
On to the campsite and almost immediately face to face with a hero
Went for abit of a walk about;
Ex-Akku, now Steve Chrysler
Some more stomping around the campsite;
Turbobricks were out in force
Our man rmad and his tasteful Combo
A wonderful juxtaposition
Love a DB7
3 Spokes FTW yO!
Davenger Avenger
#Not2Grand , great to see this.
This Mitsubishi must be crazy rare, can't recall seeing one for years!
Rich luminous Mazda 121
NA MX5 prettiness
Pike Micra, nice to see one given the treatment
MMmmm Blackberry Pearl
Stanced 240
More strolling around the campsite
I'd not consciously seen a Z10 Cube before, a cool little thing.
Beautifully finished Cressida
Special looking 13B powered Mk3 Escort
Nathan Mazda powered MGT cafe racer
The ridiculous Woolmer Racing midget, now unfortunately dead from a wall tap incident.
Naughty Bugeye
The HoTWire / RetroRides official GX71 Kaido Racer/Shakotan sharknose. Proper.
A quick amble around the rest of the paddock
Back to the campsite, first things first, R31 Skyline wagon
BiAS brought his saved E23
The most legendary car on the property? Possibly.
Another Pao with the treatment
And another 3 cars proving the the treatment (lows and wheel) works on EVERYTHING
Ade's MG (now penski owned)
Colonelk S60
and the Robinxr4i DriftSaph
Awesome Ford LTD CROWN Vic
A couple of flavours of Metro
Morgan's beautiful Beetle.
Tat-auction tat
Absolutely gorgeous Alfa Giulia Sprint
Mint Imp
Woolmers Sprite again,
A car that has all but evaporated, Fiat Tipo
Ewe what m8?
Mystery Machine hand delivering some of his amazing artwork
Then it was time to head to the eagerly awaited tat-auction
KFW giving sexwithyoureyes the finger (he deserved it)
Then it got real dark and wet, so much drinking was done. And before we knew it, it was show day!
A car that was imported in tiny numbers 30years ago and almost doesn't exist anymore. Super rare.
Slotmags for all of the things!
Rare JDM goodness, complete with MiniMoto
Gobs epic T12 Bluey
Japanese gangster spec
Swedish gangster spec
I wasn't expecting to see a 037 Stradale!
A pair of crazy Renaults
Early faced K10 March with Nismo trinkets
Truely stunning Lancia, I had a good chat with the owner and his son.
Sweet Z
Hard looking Belvedere
CLEAN BGT
Mk2 Cavalier on Mk3 Astra GSi wheels
Early mk2 Escort
Datsun Stanza!
R8 Wagon on more 3poke deliciousness
Relevant to my interests (+ 3 spokes!!)
More JDM, this time a Bluebird SSS
Robinxr4i claiming his (very expensive) burnout under the watchful eye of kevfromwales
And that was it. Short of having a tidy of the campsite, we were pretty much done and ready to go.
Far too many people to mention, but basically, if I saw you there, thank you.
Hopefully next year I'll have the 940 actually done and ready in time, we'll see.
