Bit of a vague title, apologies.
Right, so the the windscreen on my BMW E36 is fine during the day but at night you can notice, and I don't know how to put it across properly, light swirls all across the screen which make oncoming headlights look all hazy and harder to actually see where I'm going.
I don't have windscreen cover, so are there any abrasive glass cleaning products I could try? I already had a bottle of meguairs glass polish but that did zilch. Obviously I don't want to make it worse!

Personally, I've never found anything which works on windscreens and I've tried pretty much everything I'm aware of or is recommend.

New screen is the main cure - and if you are using it before and after, you will really notice the difference. A new, un-damaged, screen, without all the millions of little tiny stone chips you never really noticed before is amazingly clear, transparent and just . . . wonderful

When I worked for a window company, everything we tried to remove scratches made them worse. That included a number of professional tools and chemicals with prices to match and a salesman's guarantee that they would solve all our problems and create world peace.

You can get scratch removal kits from companies such as frost's, but I'm not sure how effective they'd be in your situation. Think you might need to bite the bullet and go for another screen, as already mentioned. Only thing I would say is that when I paid for my RRC screen to be done, the small independent screen companies were loads cheaper than the big guys, probably because they're set up for insurance claims

Been there and wore out the t-shirt.
I tried a few scratch removal kits, fine steel wool etc. None worked. Even cracked the screen on one car due to generating too much heat while polishing but I'd nothing lose as that screen was really annoying especially at night.
The only solution from my experience is to replace the screen as already mentioned in previous posts. Well worth the cost imo if insurance doesn't cover it.

Rayon pads and cerium oxide are the only thing that will work, you need to use it on a high speed polisher though.
