Deadend Magazine (both actual magazine and YouTube channel) seems to occupy that space, kind of the weird intersection of custom, lowrider and hot rod.
This is nice.

I used to enjoy the magazine Custom Rodder. For cars too custom to be hot rods, to hot rod to be customs... It died a death a little while before all those American magazines got killed off. I spotted this beauty at the Modified Nationals which would have been right at home in those pages. The magazine was car Kulture deluxe, was a cracking mag!! I can't not see those headlights though 🤮🤮🤮

The magazine was car Kulture deluxe, was a cracking mag!! Kar Kulture Deluxe is/was a different magazine. Also a cool magazine but is/was all very much about the 'billy revival scene cars. Custom Rodder was a magazine from back in the day, from the 50s through 2012. That Kaiser has headlights ya can't unsee....

I do apologise, the foose stuff custom types 😁👌 CKD went off the rails when they put too many rat rods in. Was always the mag for me being of Psycho/Rockabilly persuasion

I think Custom Rodder was born out of Street Rodder magazine as an outlet for them to publish post '48 stuff? I used to enjoy it too on occasion. Was no Rodders Digest though.
No denying that Chevy is a nicely built car but I'd do a load of things differently if it were mine.

Ooh!
That looks great from the side, the headlights are quite incongruous though. And I can't work out what's going on with the trumpet/air filter combo...

You don't think that it's just a common four barrel carb and air filter, with a weird looking fancy cover around them? If that's the case, I think it looks even more incongruous than the modern headlights which are at least functional.
