Morning all, As I am a Neanderthal I managed to break the 'shroud' that goes around the top of Woody's steering column. It would appear that this part is not available as a reproduction so looking for any suggestions on what I could use. This is the part in question. Bit frustrating but I am hoping one of you clever chaps will go 'Ah, That looks exactly like....' Appreciate your help. P.

No ideas on what else it looks like but if you have the other bit it surely could be repaired?
Or even a 3D printed replica made

If it doesn't need the curve you could use a piece of alloy or stainless pipe. Another possibility is an exhaust reducer. Alternatively take measurements and see if other cars have something similar.

If you can stick it together I'd be inclined to make a fibreglass mold and make a copy using fibreglass.

You must be able to get one sent over from the states.

Doesen't took too difficult to draw in cad and get 3D printed. (You could get the remains scanned and add the missing parts back in)

Cocktail shakers are great for chopping up to make column shrouds when you’re adapting bits together. One of the few things that have that gentle taper. Plus they’re stainless and more or less every charity shop seems to have em for a quid.

I think a 750ml or 1 litre perrier bottle has just about the perfect curve

Do you still have all the parts of your broken one? Its probably potmetal, so it cant be welded. But I think I'd give it a try with JB weld... Build up some thickness on the inside for strength, if you have space for it. Its amazing stuff, and I've had some good results with it..

I'd model it up and 3d print one if it's viable, depends what it holds.

metalshapes unfortunately the collar was already broken with a piece missing, it had previously been repaired which is why it was stuck to the column. Have to admit I was not in the best of moods when I was taking it apart so there was the distinct possibility of brute force being the deciding factor here…. Good shout on the cocktail shaker, will venture into town today and see what is available. In a quick update it looks as if a replacement might have been sourced from a comment on the truck forum and also from grizz reaching out to his network. Thanks all! P.

Coffee flask or travel mug might give you a decent stainless donor, they're cheap and readily available in a variety of similar shapes.

Get hold of one of these www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363210994641measure width of both fitted ends then get an exhaust reducer made - it will be stepped though but will do the job. Get a stainless one and polish it up!
