I have a strange nostalgia for this type of coach: I'm not sure I ever really went in one, maybe on a school trip once? but something about them is so era specific. Also I tend to associate them with being race car transporters for a certain breed of race car in the late 80's/early 90's. Those that had enough money they could afford something more than a trailer, but not enough that they could get a proper custom race car transporter. So they chopped up a second hand coach.

That green double-decker has definitely been to Glastonbury, but way back when, before it had a fence

Also I tend to associate them with being race car transporters for a certain breed of race car in the late 80's/early 90's. Those that had enough money they could afford something more than a trailer, but not enough that they could get a proper custom race car transporter. So they chopped up a second hand coach. Funny enough I was wandering around the busses at a steam rally the other weekend saying something very similar. With cars (and lorries and railways for that matter) my interest is in stuff that was already "classic" when I was a kid, or at least was very rare in regular use. Although I appreciate seeing a Montego or Cavalier in the wild I don't have the same pang of nostalgia I get from a coach or bus of the mid 70s- early 80s era, generally just about hanging on in there as school transport fodder- school swimming lessons definitely involved a trip out on something similar to that into town, and at secondary school there was still a pair of battered Bristol VR deckers on the school run. Should have pulled my finger out and gone up the hill to this- looks like a good day, and in a nice part of the world (even the Slaughters are nice...). Edit, oh and that AEC camper conversion is ACE!

Nice pics. Old coaches and busses have been on my radar for quite a while now, but I don't have the space, funds or bravery to own one.
