I hope someone can offer some insight on this.
My insurance is due for Renewal in the coming days.
Unluckily for me, my daily was rear ended yesterday! Low speed, little damage but other party has gone quiet once i got a quote for repair.
Insurance have been contacted and they have agreed to repair and I am awaiting booking confirmations, the other party is 100% at fault and this is all confirmed etc.
Now my issue. I was not intending to renew with the same company, the renewal price was a sizeable increase and I have found much cheaper elsewhere.
If I choose not to renew with the current supplier and the claim is still ongoing, is this likely to cause issues? and if so what?

I'm in this situation also and they (Direct Line) told me that once the claim is settled and logged as 'no fault' then I will get a refund of the increase due to the open claim. The claim was finally closed yesterday so I am about to contact DL to get the refund, fingers crossed it'll be close to if not all of the increase. So I'd confirm this with your current insurer and then you can stay if you want to. Of course with all but the substantial claims you never really win and if there is any way to avoid a claim, even if it is no fault, that's what I'd recommend. The time and effort you'll put in, plus these sorts of issues mean it's often not worth it. You still have to declare the no fault claim and your insurance is likely to go up a bit when you do but shopping around could help.

The claim has already been made and is what it is. My main concern is the impact changing insurers during the claim may have. My renewal quote from others is substantially cheaper and I do intend to change insurers unless this is likely to cause an issue with the ongoing claim and repair.
