Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. As the title suggests I've got a week off work, well more precisely a week off my day job, RR Events, Retro Rides and Club Retro Rides stuff still carries on. Busy week on all those things this week, I expect to be heading to the post office with a large amount of envelopes for Club RR people with this year's stickers heading out the door (finally). RR Weekender will start to announce more stuff for this year's event, Gathering is 50% sold out of camping and we've not even started advertising it fully yet. Quick60 is coming together really nicely, already got more cars entered than last year. On top of all that I'm hoping for a bit of breathing room to get some more stuff around this here forum a bit more ship shape and some more effort in the stuff around the Podcast (images, promotion etc.) On my actual car life I'm hoping to FINALLY get all the paperwork sorted for the Toyota Mark2 Kaido racer this week so it can be road registered (only three years late), also got to give some love to the daily Evoque, and clear some more space in the garage in anticipation of actually using it at some point this year. So not exactly a week off... *sigh* Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/224413/chat-thread-all-started-wc

Got another Monday off. That means after I’ve done some shopping and chores, I’ve got some Anglia time.
This is going to be a J69 theme this year

Made a small bit of progress with the never finishing garage extension/garage tidy up... Obviously the universe swiftly punished this by a puncture on the mondeo daily this morning, and a panicked phone call from my wife, that "when she revs, her car revs" a few more probing questions and it sounds like her clutch is on its way out.

Strangely reached the decision that I'm going to use more off work time this year to sort the assorted projects... There's 4 if not 5 projects ongoing in the yard and a house full of bits for all of them

hoping to get wednesday off work to look at what i can sell in the lock-ups
mostly motorbike related parts
but i’m hoping someone will want most of gsxr1100 in bits ,well enough to get it on its wheels and running with no bodywork except a tank
and a number of aprilia rsv mille panels and parts
but it’s all to fund some mgb gt alloy wheels and suspension bits for the car i don’t actually own yet(?)

Toms racecar got some love, partly because the VWDRC championship starts in just over a months time, and partly because he turns 17 at the same time and will want to be driving it all the time

They were for my 1.7 sdi lupo I scrapped recently.

Day two of my holiday and I woke up with a migraine. Some careful application of ice packs and heat pads, then another hours sleep got me to the stage of merely nauseous. Occupied myself by heading out to the garage to move things from one place to another. Saw a mouse. It is still an unusable mess.
Feel vaguely human now though, so going to go through the CDRs I found and hope there are some more photos on them (rather than lots of mp3s from the early 2000s)

Quite a unusual break from modern curse word this week (apart from the usual V8 curse word but that's not interesting). Its a engine from a toy car! Or in other words, a MA10DE from a Nissan Figaro. Prices to fix it are going beyond ridiculous into full on eye watering territory, I'd be doing a engine conversion if it was mine, but it isn't.

Also interesting that such a common engine (at one time) is a fortune to fix. But yeah like you I'd be looking for a swap, nothing too lairy in a Figaro, a CG engine from a K11 or HR from a K12.

Yeah that's the one lol. It's fairly common on older engines, the parts supply dries up then a specialist takes over and either buys up all the stock or has parts reproduced, then they can charge what they want for them. I see it as a positive mainly, it keeps them viable as a classic car.

One of the reasons I started these threads was to have somewhere to throw some of the stuff that gets chucked in group messages on various platforms. I have been poor at doing that, so to rectify it here is a pink Linc I recently shared (mainly for HARDCORE ) http://instagram.com/p/CqLLTLOOlk8

Opened up the old gearbox we removed from Harold We kept it going with 2 oil changes through the year, drained the oil and it looked ok, this was around 5th gear when I took the cover off. That and the friction plate we swapped suggested we wouldn’t have got too many more miles before we had issues

That and the friction plate we swapped suggested we wouldn’t have got too many more miles before we had issues Pah it's not worn out till the rivets have been polished and the friction material is starting to fall off

I went to a Chinese wedding. It was ace. It’s basically just excessive amounts of food and weird uncles on the karaoke singing terrible ballads, but they get *really* into it…
And then today I’ve finished cutting up excessive amounts of free plywood for building purposes. Well, I’ve cut the 20 boards I need anyway. I can get as much 22mm plastic/fibreglass coated board as I want, the catch is it only comes in 20ftx8ft boards, so needs a fair bit of processing just to be movable by one person.

I had thought the lighter evenings would spur me into a bit more action on the car front but it hasn't quite happened yet, have been busy selling off a load of stuff I no longer need though. Found some nice sill rust hiding on the Crossfire, was well hidden behind the side skirts which made me wonder how many 90s onwards cars are hiding rust out of the reach of regular cleaning and MOT testers tools, spreading until it's all but terminal by the time it's spotted... Did manage to source some NOS big end bearings for my Kawasaki bike project though, these are NLA so quite happy with finding a set!
