Only need a couple of sizes for a Rover V8 engine, can only find big sets at £90 and up!
Any leads or do you have some I could borrow for a day or so? I'm Kent.
Thanks

Just buy the UNC taps you need separately - if you aren't actually cutting threads, just chasing, then carbon steel will do.
I would go for HSS personally, then if you do need to use them properly, then you can.

As above. Just buy a couple of bottoming taps the right thread and use those. They're a lot better than thread chasers.

let me know what you want, I'm in Hastings. Thanks, need 7/16 x 14TPI UNC and 3/8 x 16TPI UNC. Just want to clean the threads, I've been told that using a tap will cut and loosen the "grip" on the bolt? Not having much luck with this RV8 engine, some threads stripped as I fitted the inlet manifold to the heads. Have a spare set of heads, but will use studs this time and want to make sure both block and heads have good clean threads. Getting fed up with changing head gaskets ( third times the charm!).

Thanks everybody.
Took some advice, put a slot into a bolt and with some WD40, it worked a treat. Pulled out loads of c**p.
Now waiting for the head studs to arrive from the USA, (hopefully Friday) and then I'll have try number 4 at getting the heads to seal!
Been a bit unlucky with this one.

let me know what you want, I'm in Hastings. I've been told that using a tap will cut and loosen the "grip" on the bolt? Go back and ask how they think the thread was cut(or rolled) in the first place . . . There are classes of thread, allowing you to juggle clearances - you might want a tighter fit, or a looser fit to allow things to centralise on datum surfaces etc. But for general purpose use, a standard tap will be fine.
