Or Disco Very... discovery...
I bought a Landrover Discovery 2. Its an auto V8, JDM import apparently. Don't let that fool you, it has no MOT and rust is clearly on the to do list (as usual for me)
Not sure if this will be a TnT feature car as I don't know if there is a following. In fact, I know next to nothing about the platform at all. this is my first foray into the Land Rover world.
So I humbly ask the community, who has build threads, tips, links, advice, pictures etc.

Regulars at Armour Rustproofing, rust, rust and more rust. Either the body goes and the chassis is good or Visa versa

If it's the disco 1 in the picture they are basically a lightly re-skinned range rover classic, rust just about everywhere on the body, sills, doorposts, inner wings, rear floor are good places to start, the chassis are not so bad on these as the later cars. If you are reasonably handy with the welder most of the panels which rust are flat and fairly easy to repair though.

Thanks for the heads up, no idea where Disco 2 came from.
Its a Japanese import apparently so if I'm lucky the rust spotted on the latest MOT should be the start and end of the woes, but I'll no doubt find out soon.
If you've seen the latest threads of mine, I'm well familiar with rust horror. Fear not.
I shall report back when I get it back to the HQ this weekend and start a build thread accordingly!

I have always hated the look of the raised rear section of the roof and steered clear of them, however I bought one for green laneing and after welding and a few modifications I cant believe just how good they are off road. So good I've forgotten all about the roof. I use it 50/50 off road and wouldn't raise the suspension or fit mud tyres or wider wheels as it ruins the ride on road. The bits are super cheap and plentiful so, enjoy.

I had a 300TDi auto J import. It had the funny sort of electronic fuel injection on it. I bought it as I was to tall for a Range Rover Classic but with the raised roof of the Discovery I fitted. Rust in the inner rear guards and an annoying water leak into the heater airbox that took a long time to rectify. After pulling the dash (something I did on its replacement an L322) I tracked the water ingress to a multiple panel overlap at the bottom of the rh side of the windscreen that wasnt sealed. Treat it with rust converter then a sealer and it was all good. Only thing that I could not get working was the cruise control and looking at the pin holes in the loom it looks like it was an old issue.

Good choice of car, the landrover scene is massive in this country and beyond, so you won't have any problems there. Rust is a problem, as mentioned and a clean example like you have is getting hard to find now. Parts-wise, almost everything is available and cheap. Unfortunately, with the demise of bearmach parts, getting good quality parts is getting harder though. For rust repairs, YRM is selling some handy stuff that saves you a lot of time: yrmit.co.uk/product-category/discovery-1/body-discovery-1/Hope that helps.
