You like roads? You like transport? You like museums? In Lincolnshire? Have I got a place for you then....

I love these kind of trust run museums, I think I have said before, and doubtless I'll say it again. Some old building somewhere rammed with all the "stuff" these folks have curated (actual proper use of the word) and a bunch of "stuff" which just got there because, because.

I went a few weeks back on their public open day, bus running. This is usually a big old win because you get to see right behind the scenes, and ride on old buses (I am not sure if I am turning into a child or a pensioner) but unfortunately the day I went to LHVT it was the day all the local families decided to bring their kids to misbehave somewhere thats not a Primark, so the place was super busy. Some of the adults weren't behaving any better than the kids. I'd recommend it on a quieter day...

But its great, so much stuff, so much oily rag delight. Hopefully the photos convey an impression of that

May I ask what this is? At first sight I thought why would someone stick a tv remote control on a car? Then I saw the driver side has one, too.



I guess it's an old fashioned indicator, that we in germany call winker?

I've often wondered why the old Morris vans aren't as desirable as, lets say Citroen H vans, they have similar looks and must of been built out of steel rather than the cheapest tin known to mankind.



no doubt some one who has driven or worked with the Morris will open the lid on there quirks or traits

They’re ash framed. There’s very few left that aren’t totally ballbagged.
I knew a guy who restored one and it was maybe 20% original metal.

Plus they’re half the size of a H van and very ‘pre-war’ to drive.

Its a semaphore traficator to give it the full name. An arm with an orange light (or sometimes just an orange reflector) swings out to show the turn signal.

For a while Morris offered a full traffic light mounted there....

These are pre-war traffic lights for passing cyclists, red in the direction the car will turn & green on the side where it is safe to pass, causes much confusion
