Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Well as you can imagine I've been elbows deep in show organising. I thought I'd got well ahead of myself, but then half a hundred things pop up and I realise that no, no I can't have the weekend off to relax. *sigh* ... still certainly no melt downs this year, although there is time still. I've also been trying to spend half hour each evening on RR forum stuff, on desktop you may have noticed the navigation/ad location swap. I'm still not 100% on this, but I thought I'd give it a go as it is what a lot of other sites do. I've also been moving forward on the new forum layout, designed for mobile first, I'll put a couple of screenshots below (although they are from the current desktop view so look a bit odd). That is progressing well. Hopefully weather holds for the show and we have a good one, then it is all back here for lots and lots of work to keep the forum moving in to the future. What you up to this week? Any news or anything interesting going on the world of retro cars that may not warrant its own thread?... Hopefully coming down to the show on Saturday for the day , if the weather holds . Unfortunately will be in a modern as it’s around 3.5 hrs one way for us . If all goes well , should be for the full weekend next year .
Also dropped a deposit on something that should fit in the mini truck thread , although it’s totally standard at the mo so some fun times ahead .
👍

The fuel gauge in my Anglia is definitely reading backwards after I meddled with it. The needle is heading up towards the full level... I'm hoping if I pop it back open I'll be able to turn this coil of resistance wire round the other way so the +ve supply is at the other end. It's a tank off job though, so I'll have to take a Monday off work to do it or I won't get a chance.

Considering selling the Manta as fibromyalgia is preventing me from doing various jobs on the car.

I'm proper kid at Christmas excited about the Weekender. I've even bought a new tent and fold up chair as my old ones were 20 years old and getting a bit tatty.

Last weekend not only the RR weekender took place, but also the 24h at Nürburgring. The winner was, for the first time, a Ferrari. Winning team was Frikadelli racing, the one Sabine Schmitz was a member of once.

It's been undersealed. My UK gti is fine apart the front wings. I've gone for the r32 for the noise really. Even with a miltek sport cat and exhaust the 4 pot gti still doesn't sound exciting.

There was a show on???
From Thursday to Monday at the venue here’s my step count
Thursday 5,684 Friday 9,188 Saturday 19,031 Sunday 16,783 Monday 4,859
Total steps 55,545 and I only saw the Assembly Area (Paddock) (I don’t mean the “White Room” or “Air Cooled” or “Deadline” paddocks
However I did see an awful lot of smiles both days so very happy with that
Cheers

Firstly, can I say many thanks to all involved with the RRW? The event as always, looked like a real success, and encapsulated what is great about this place. A chilled vibe, with plenty of stuff to see, and many folks to catchup with. I did see a few folks, but not all folks, or some for long enough either! My step count looks very similar to yours bstardchild, but you win on the overall steps over the two days! So, what did I do from last weekend until now? -Started packing for the Weekender from last week, with the M3 slowly doing its bi-annual gig of becoming a van. I did also bring down the 325d instead I hate to say, but that's not the point of the place. It was a squeeze it's fair to say, to get everything in. -Went to an Allegro 50th birthday last week at the BMM, where I saw a few familiar RR faces, including a known face from the RR crowd, who is also a writer for C&C. The Alfa was driven by myself once more. -The M3 had two things done to it, so as to make it easier to live with for heading down, as well as improving the piece of mind. First was to do an oil change. I hadn't changed it for almost 2 years (still within spec), but the mileage I was nowhere near. I did around 4,000 miles on the oil. Draining it out, had me wondering why I was changing it. Second thing I did? Removed the fancy racing pads and fitted some OE pads in place. I'll feedback in my thread how the brake setups have been that I've had on the car. -Spent some great time with some great RRers. Camping with chunk, dickdasterdley and goosegog was a real honour, and a great way to spend the weekend. I'll try and meetup with a few of you chaps next time at the Gathering, as it seemed there wasn't quite enough time to do everything! I'm proper kid at Christmas excited about the Weekender. I've even bought a new tent and fold up chair as my old ones were 20 years old and getting a bit tatty. I did a revamp of my camping year last year, and live with old stuff, like you did up until then. What changed? -Gazebo now comes along -Pop-up Black out tent -Down feathered Rab sleeping bag, with a silk liner -Proper pillow, albeit a camping one -Another chair, for guys to come around with. -Bought a JetBoil Minimo, which is great for boiling water when there are not many of you wanting a hot drink. It's quick to heat too. Annoyingly, I had no ear plugs, but that wasn't the end of the world It really improved the camping experience leaps and bounds. Truth be told, I should really begin to camp out a little more with the gear, as the issues I had with camping before have subdued alot now. Bought a new to me daily, 2006 mk5 golf r32 to replace a 2005 mk5 golf gti. I'm very slowly getting into newer cars. Or just saying within a timeframe of an 'old' car . Time is a funny thing however. A nice choice that. Mk5 GTis really seem to be getting alot of interest. I'd love to recommend one to two guys I know, but the rust is becoming an issue with them, now they are old, for daily use. A mate is currently restoring one, and having the sills welded up as we speak on his.
