Rather sweet Austin Brit Rod

This is the thing, proper old British tin with a proper shonky British drive train. Looks to be a Triumph engine in there, probably a 1500 from a Spitfire and it probably donated the rest of its running gear also. I like the stock resto rod look and the chrome wires. There were a few like this about at one point. I saw this at an owner's club event I already posted pics from but thought this one deserved a thread of its own

Wifey's Pop that I am rebuilding was done like that originally. Triumph chassis and running gear with the Pop welded to it.
As said, a few done like it way back.

Just the right balance of rodded and the stance , wheels etc work for my untrained eye.

I've seen a couple done like that, but I think the Austin is a little long for a Spit ot Herald chassis? So I guess the running gear was attached to the stock frame. I shoud have looked under....

Great example, really usable hot rod drawing out of the later model parts pool to build something practical. 👍

I still regard a Spitfire as a later model but its as old now as the Austin was when the Spitfire was new. or something. or more.
