Advice please ( yet again ) I'm thinking of buying a compressor for my garage for some air tools and to spray my car. The car is only the size of a classic Mini and has many removable panels. Doors, front, boot and wings are all removable, only the roof and the window surrounds are in one piece I am thinking of getting a 14.5cfm , 3hp compressor but due to the space i cant fit in the 100ltr tank and would have to go for the 50ltr tank. I imagine the bigger one would be better but would the smaller 50ltr one do the job be capable of Spraying the car ok. Any advice appreciated

i have a mini i am spraying atm, i have a 50 ltr v twin compressor. it works fine, i actually have it in a box outside.
buy electric tools, the compressor will always run if you use say a sander, or even a drill.

Have sprayed a transit camper and a couple of motorcycles using a 2 1/2 hp 25 litre aldi compressor, As said before, air tools will make a compressor work hard so if possible use the electric equivalent, your electric bill will thank you for it Ttfn Glenn

Thanks lads, i have managed to make room so can now get the 100ltr version as that sounds more than capable, I think ill stick to electric tools as advised and only use it for spraying and light work. All advice much appreciated

The size of the tank really makes no real difference. Its all about the CFM the compressor can put out.

I’ve been down this rabbit hole recently… picking up a 14.5cfm 90l compressor tomorrow. The Aldi one just can’t keep up with the gun. Feel free to ask questions of what and how I’m doing it and you’ll find a long thread on log welding.com
As far as I see it, it’s a lot of prep and then the fun bit… shooting colour. I’ve done 3 panels so far and I’m starting to get the hang of it. Struggling for good fun gloss but hopefully more air will help with that. Oh and buffing the curse word out of it!

Well the big compressor is here. Haven’t painted owt. But it can take 50-60s of the spray gun running before needing to recharge. That’s plenty for a panel I hope.
Time to get flatting again…
