Anyone had any dealing with these? I have seen one for sale and it is a hard top with a 1.9 cvh and a non galvanised chassis. It's hard to say what they are worth so I have no idea if it is cheap or expensive. It looks a good car but I read online that non galvanised cars should be avoided unless very cheap. So any insight into ownership would be good and how about spares? I am sure the parts are from a parts bin but which manufacturer for which parts? I know they have a lot of ford bits on them but you would need to know what model etc to order items. I like the look but want to avoid over paying and ending up with a car that's broken and off the road while I search where the ball joints came from as an example. Or is this info only known by the club which are holding you to random to make you keep joining? Picture from Google.

You called....! I do know a bit about these - every bit. Nice cars, I like them a lot and they make an excellent (non family) daily. What are they worth? - Well, as only 100 made originally, value falls between what someone is willing to sell at, and what someone is willing to pay. £5K should get you a nice Galv car. The one on facebook - started at 8500 and now at 5500 - no idea if Galv or not - basic spec 1.9 Galv non Galv? - Well, Galv you have no issues with rust, Body (doors excluded|) or Chassis - Non Galv you treat the chassis like any other 30+ year old vehicle and go in with eyes open - Clearly Galv cars are worth more. Mainly as most of the cars are Galv why would you buy a non Galv? Most mechanical parts are from the Ford parts bin XR2 / XR3i My old 1.6

I have been keeping an eye on that one on Facebook for about 6 months, it was 7k when I first noticed it. But after digging around online the seller bought it in June 2022 and it was for sale again in Aug 2022. I think he got it off ebay but the listing has gone now as I wouldn't mind knowing what he bid to win it. What he bid was probably a better reflection of its worth. It is not galvanised as I have asked him that question.

I would have to see the chassis myself to say one way or the other, as I have come across so many peeps that have no idea what the Galv chassis looks like. Some assume that as the chassis is painted in the engine bay its a non galv car, or, as there are not huge rusty holes in it, it must be galv. I do keep an eye on values and expect he paid something like £3-3.5K. As you say, it has been up for sale with this seller for a good while. I think it came up for sale after the factory demo car went for silly money at an online auction - went to Italy IIRC - so clearly that then meant "Hey, that's the same as mine, a non galv 1.9 therefore mine is worth £9K as well "so lets make lots of money...." Basic non galv 1.9 - if it's all in good order and drives well, many do not due to most owners having no idea how to set them up or look after them, then I would say max £4-4.5K once its established that the chassis is perfect. I had chassis #50 and #92 - #92 is the one above. Both Galv cars - #50 was an all options 1.9 car, #92 a more basic 1.6 but electric windows and central locking. A no sunroof which is a rare and sought after thing when you know the cars. #50 is a rolling resto - sunroof recently filled - just had the front end sprayed. I would have another tomorrow - Galv, 1.9, MK3 Dash, no sunroof. Or instead of the 1.9 a 1.8 Zetec conversion.

There maybe more info on the club page but I cannot get on there probably because I am not a member. I am not sure what the build number is of this one but I could ask him if it would help clear up the galv/non galv question? He has sent me some pics when I asked about the chassis, can you tell from these?

Non Galv that one for sure. The unfortunate thing is that the tubes rot on the top where the salt and damp collects which holes them from above - when you do find a visible hole in those tubes it has rotted from the top through and then the inside out. Nice bright Yellow ARB - LOL Galv chassis in the front wheel arch looking at the tank - this one with a replacement alloy tank as the steel ones rot. I have not been a member of the GOC for some years now - There was a load of stuff that I put on the club site when working on the cars - with corrections of errors that I found - but they lost the server and it all went. There could be some useful information on there now for the G32 but really could not say. My old one still doing all the shows with the new owner. Later dash - MK3 - yep they spray painted them black at the factory ! They are better for shin clearance than the MK2 dash - which has some very "home made" conversion aspects about it. The press tried to be complimentary about them but they were expensive, not very well made, used the CVH, not that fast. Also could not shake the Ford parts bin special tag.

I thought it looked non galv and the evidence of someone treating/covering up the surface rust on the chassis can be seen in pictures, but if they rot from above it could need work now even though it looks like it's all there. It sounds like the 3-3.5k you mentioned is more like it in this instance. I don't need a project as I have them in bigger numbers than is healthy already. I like the look and the originality of it but I fear it would end up in bits if I bought it. Just thinking out loud I could buy my brothers low mileage Porsche Boxster for less than this and know where I stand with that as he has had it years but it doesn't have the same buy me look as a G32. The painted dash does not surprise me, many years ago I worked as a Sprayer for a company exclusively painting plastic parts for cars. I don't think unpainted plastics in cars is a thing. They may have been painting the dash to a price rather than a standard as the stuff we did was really good and some didn't look painted at all. Just as I left the job they had just won the job of painting interior plastics for the then new shape discovery that was just about to come out which was about 2003. We were already doing the Range Rover stuff which was all colour matching with the choice of leather you could spec on them.

I’ve been watching that G32 since it appeared on Facebook Marketplace last year for daft money , finally getting to the point where I was due a visit to see if the chassis was galvanised or not and it must have sold … now appears non galv so glad I didn’t waste my time going . I did like the colour very much though. I’ll keep my eye out for a later mk3 fiesta dash model .

Definitely.. or at least not a broken one ! I was wondering wether that one could be replaced with a fabric sunroof like old MGB’s. Will keep my eyes open!

Well the light blue one in Wigan has popped back up on Facebook marketplace today for £5300. Think I’ll steer clear and keep looking for a galvanised chassis model
