For sale is a lovely Jaguar XJ12.
I have had most version of Jaguar XJs over the years, including Series 3 models, XJ40s, X300s, X308s, X350s and X351 in most engine offerings. I have never had the V12 and have always wanted one.
Only selling as I have just been offered another Mercedes 600 SEL V12 (one of my dream cars) which was too good to refuse. Two V12s is just greedy, so this splendid machine has to go to make space.
The XJ12 in X300 guise was one of the most powerful iterations of the V12, pushing out 318 BHP with endless torque.
I came across this example from a well-to-do gentleman that had owned the car for over 12 years. In this time, the car was serviced annually and had whatever it needed with no expense spared.
It has has thousands of pounds spent on it over the years, with work including:
Head gasket overhaul and rebuilding, welding, diff replacement, new radiator, servicing, brakes, tyres, suspension, gearbox servicing, paint work, etc.
Over £4500 spent in the last year alone!
Mechanically, the big cat is sound.
Starts first turn of the key. Idles in the correct manner. No misfiring or hesitation. Quiet tick over.
Pulls like a train throughout the rev range. Smoking hot hatches off the lights in an 'old man's car' never gets boring and the look on peoples faces is just priceless!
Even a tap on the accelerator pedal when setting off gives you a firm idea of the fury which lurks beneath that long bonnet.
No leaks. No overheating - temperature gets to the halfway point and sits there all day long, even in heavy traffic.
Excellent oil pressure and battery voltage.
The gearbox changes as it should.
The suspension is tight, solid and free from the usual knocks and bangs which often blight these cars. The chassis is brilliant, refined and composed, making it an enjoyable car to drive. No Lotus Elise, but you'll be surprised how well she handles.
Brakes are spot on and pull the big cat to a halt with no issues.
Exhausts themselves are sound and have none of the usual holes or blowing, although there seems ot be a leak on one of the exhaust gaskets (which becomes quieter once the car gets up up to temperature).
Differential was replaced recently and is smooth, without the typical whining.
Excellent matching tyres all round.
Overall, a very sound and solid mechanical drive train.
In presentable condition for the year, but requires some tlc on the body.
There are marks, blemishes and stone chips as to be expected. Lacquer has peeled with flat paint on the roof and bonnet, so these areas would benefit from a repaint (or replacement bonnet in same colour). There are a few rust blisters on the paint work, but not the usual rot box.
No heavy rust or rot on the arches, front wings or boot area. Solid car underneath, with over £1k of welding completed last year.
Alloy wheels are in very good condition.
The interior is in decent order, apart from wear and a tear on the driver's seat bolster (common and can be easily repaired). No other major damage. The walnut burr is in good order.
Headlining is fine with no sagging.
No warning lights on the dashboard cluster. All lights turn on and then extinguish when the car is started.
Everything works as it should, although the LCD clock and climate display has faded (find me one that hasn't!).
The Air Conditioning is nice and cold.
This XJ12 is only going up in price and they are becoming rarer as time goes on. A magnificent car with an epic power plant - they don't and won't make engines like this any more.
Grab an analogue V12 car whilst you still have the chance and before they all become extinct.
Comes with: 2 x Keys, 2 x Remote Fobs, Bills & Receipts totaling thousands, Previous MOT Certificates, Jaguar User Manuals and Original Sales Brochure.
Private Registration 'C6 LTR' is included in the sale and valued at over £1000
Also has a spare sunroof panel and spare stereos which will come with the car.
