I always have various odd cars on the driveway - at the moment, a saab 9000 2.3 griffin turbo, a RX8 (Shouldn't that be AN?), a Saab 900 turbo, and a VW beetle. A neighbour got in touch whilst I was tinkering and turns out he has a 1970 Karmann Ghia - slightly lowered, RHD with buggered brakes. He took it out the other day and when he got back the heat from the wheel caused the hubcap to fall off and had binded considerably. I offered to help get it fixed and had to tow it out his garage - Made for a great photo. This got me thinking - What other photos are out there of the same ilk?

No actual photo sadly, but Oulton Park Gold Cup, last year. I was drooling all over the Aston Martin and as I walked around the back of it I near tripped over the tow bar. "Wait... What on earth do you tow with this..?" I asked the owner "The race car!" Outstanding

Some years ago my wife's 1990 Ford Laser lunched its clutch. We rope towed it to the garage behind my then daily 1970 Wolseley 1300. Got a few funny looks going through town. Sadly there are no photographs.

Back in the day I used this Transit to carry my oval racers. It was often used as daily transport when my roadgoing Capri was (regularly) needing attention. On one occasion (unloaded) the transit (with a V4 engine despite the diesel nose) threw a conrod. About 10 miles from home. Called my brother and he came out with tow rope and his Mk 1 3 Litre Capri and got the Transit back home. Photo of Transit, sadly I didn't take one of the Capri/ Transit outfit. Other cars in photo from later on when the transit had received a Corsair GT V4 and Kev had replaced his Capri with a Scimitar. The SIMCA stock rod on his trailer was the first racing SIMCA we every ran, start of a stream of them to this day, eventually sprints and hillclimbs, circuit racing and now trackdays since then, in the '80s..

I'm loving this thread already, especially as we might already have a winner! I need to do some more research into Richard Rawlings Testarossa rig, there was a video on facebook the other day and I don't know how the hitch was attached but it didn't look like any towbar I've ever seen!

Numerous times I've seen a Peugeot 505 wagon towing a trailer with different classics on, up and down the A1 around Nottinghamshire. I've always assumed it would be somebody on here or autoshite but perhaps not?

Not sure if these fit here ? The first probably isn’t that interesting & not sure if the second is actually towing ?? My B2 Passat towing a random T25 that had broken down on the way into Santa Pod . A random spot out on a bike ride .

Another photo from my mid '80s oval racing days. My Magenta Tarragon TXR kitcar (a couple of my rotten Mk1 Capris were 'recycled' into this) towing my FIAT 128 3P stock Rod. The Magenta later towed my sprint, hillclimb then circuit racing SIMCA Rallyes around the country till the early 2000s when it was sold. I believe the car was scrapped by the new owner for the mechanical parts to go back into one of FoMoco's rotboxes which he was restoring... full circle.!!
