Anyone know much about type 9 gear boxes? Mine is fine but when I’ve been driving for a while and especially if it is hot you find a bit of resistance when coming out of a gear (say going 2-3rd gear, 2nd is a bit sticky). Never had a problem going in to gear just needs the odd tug to come out!?
Could it be a linkage thing?

Type 9 doesn't have any external inkages, you could try removing the gearstick, lubing the ball / socket and the shift rod. I'd also check gear oil level and make sure it is the right gear oil with the correct addatives.

It may also be worth doing an oil change, depending on the mileage on the box. My Morgan has a Type 9 and I change the oil very 50,000 miles… it hasn’t been rebuilt yet with almost 180,000 miles on it.

This leads to the bottom few mm being water and not oil. Water is not a good gearbox lubricant!

It’s likely a worn syncro, especially if it’s mostly second gear.

Ford must have an aversion to drain plugs, as seemingly none of the automatics have one, and nor does the diff housing on mk1 and 2 Granadas
