I’m having a bit of a nightmare keeping my CV boots secured to the outer CV joint since I got my mini back on the road.
What’s the most common method people are using? I’ve had plastic cable ties and metal cable ties with the little ball bearing in. Both either pull too tight and slip the boot off or not tight enough to pull the boot off but then slip off after a few miles anyway!

The crimp type ones are the best but make sure that the sealing faces are clean with no grease on in them, this can be a bit tricky but even with the best clips they will still want to slide off if they are greasy.

If your boot is baggy or loose on the joint bin it for a new one, as said make sure its grease free where it mounts, and as a very last resort but only if your really struggling with the clip a jubilee clip can be used to secure it, not ideal though.

There not much clearance in a mini hub for anything that sits proud (like tie wraps!). I buy proper metal clips.

If in a bind as a get you home some stripped house copper wire can be used - very easy to twist the end one too many times and watch it snap off though. Pretty sure I got a couple of year of that temp fix on my Mini ! James
