getting used to it and quite enjoying it. This may have already been said but in case it hasn't, tonight I used the search function to find a thread. Specifically I wanted to find the words: Micra Millie the Board: Readers Rides the author: Yoeddynz and I searched. The search brought up exactly what I was looking for - all the posts, but I could not find a way to link to the actual thread. Ultimately I had to find Yoeddynz's profile and search his threads until I found it. Hope this all makes sense. Thanks again! Ah that is good feedback actually I'll have a look and see what is going on there, I suspect I've changed something in a view that the search shares and accidentally removed the bit it uses for a link.

jpsmitIf you change the "How to Search" to "display results as threads" you will get a list of threads, in your search case one thread

trying to add a irl with the link button so you can just have say one word in yellow seems to bring up 404 error code after you upload the post

I don't know if this is related to the new/updated forum, but I am now getting a sizeable banner ad across the bottom of my screen. It just started today and it's a tad annoying. Any suggestions please? Thank you. Yeah we're trying out some new ad technology,it'll take a little while to bed in as we get sizes and stuff right. Both from as provider and my side of things. Hello HoTWire - sorry to bring this up again, but... is this new banner ad across the bottom of the screen going to be a permanent feature?
I find it very distracting, so much so that I am unable to read and enjoy the threads that I follow. The ad makes it feel like I am trying to read the forum through a letter box - and, because they are animated and constantly changing they are very distracting, making it hard to concentrate on the content. We have ads at the top of the page, ads throughout the page as we scroll down, must we also have ads assailing us while reading?
I know that the admin staff do an awful lot to keep this great site up and running, I know that for the most part it's a thankless task, and I am more than aware that this forum is free to members and that must be paid for somehow... but, I cannot enjoy the site in its current iteration - perhaps it's just a me thing. I am sorry to be that guy, I just feel quite strongly about this.
Thanks for listening/reading.

wildroverI'd love to see what your screen looks like, as mine is currently like this: Everything is still up for review and change, I was very fearful of the sticky bottom ad, but it is the smallest size it can be and I actually don't hate it. However that is just my experience, and I am but one perso

Sorry if this has been asked and answered, I am aware I've missed quite a few threads about the layout change. Are we going to get back to a point where it's easy to see whether a thread has been updated, other than the tiny "new" icon? In most forums I use, the thread title will be highlighted in some way when there's been a change to it since my last visit, but that doesn't appear to happen any more.
MS Edge, Windows 10, in case that makes a differencec.

So short answer yes... long answer yeeeeeeeeeessssssss

This is what I am seeing and not wanting to deal with - as you say though, I am but one person. Just so others can see this, I've found that the bottom sticky is appearing at desktop sizes, but without the top bar going, so it is causing some letterboxing of the size. On mobile where you have a lot of vertical space on a page, a small sticky bottom advert isn't too troublesome, particularly if it is effectively swapping space with a vanishing top nav. One landscape views that isn't the case. Leave it with me and I'll speak to the ad people and see what we can do.

As above, the bottom banner is painful. Chrome 1920x1080 14" Laptop W10, also use a W7 laptop with the same letterboxing. Changing the zoom decreases the banner at the expense of text size. Also closing the side menu took me longer to work out then Id like to admit.

My thread on car insurance seems to have lost the ability to post a reply since being moved to the Whinge Bin.Any solution HoTWire ? That's by design. Thread wasn't bringing anything useful out, just a place to rant. It is a known problem with car insurance at the moment (been on national news and everything), so the thread got whinge binned. Now a thread on how to best shop around and find the best car insurance for your money would probably be super useful, although it seems we're all in the same boat at the moment.

I'm late with a fix for this, because that fix contains a bunch of other things, two of which aren't working properly at the moment. I'm hoping I can resolve those today, although it may be tomorrow at this rate (I've not even got to the Weekly Chat thread yet because my day has been a bit sideways since I got up!). Hang tight, it will be resolved.

For everyone who hates the adverts, there is a very easy fix - adblock. No adverts on your page at all after that. Just google Adblock and add it to whatever browser you are using. HoTWire when posting in threads the preview function has gone? makes it hard to see if the photos are in the right place & text correct without having to post & then go back & edit it several times.

Or even better get Club Retro Rides membership at store.retro-rides.org , and then you can support the forum AND not have ads. It should be there... I'll go and check, that may be a hangover from the "new" editor changes that I made, where everything was effectively a preview so I removed the option, thought I put it back though ... may just be there for replies (will look now as I'm about to do half an hour on layout stuff).

I don't mind the other adverts as they help keep this place going, it's just the banner in the way that is so annoying.

One of the benefits of Membership is no adverts +1 on the Preview Tab on the new posts editor. It was extremely useful.
