An iconic basic shape? All of these work, some better than others, but all are variations on a theme . . . Aston Martin DB2 Zagato bodied Aston Ferrari Maserati Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce Lancia Aurelia GT Bristol 404 AC Aceca Gilbern GT Cisitalia Pegaso Z-102 MGB/C GT Triumph GT6 No doubt there are others that I've missed.

Reliant Sabre One of the better shapes to come out of the more specialist end of the British Motor Industry and also one of the most masculine shaped cars ever made.

One of the better shapes to come out of the more specialist end of the British Motor Industry and also one of the most masculine shaped cars ever made. I'm quite the fan. I met a lady who had one her husband had owned from new. It was quite stunning and she seemed a little disappointed I knew what it was...

Seeing as I'm watching Fast and Furious 6; It is a bit newer than the date range but I feel suitably influenced by the above posted cars.

There were some absolutely cracking designs in that period, with vast numbers standing the test of time. Looking at them now, if some were reproduced today, you'd think they'd sell like hot cakes.

1965 Apollo GT, Buick V8 powered I wonder if they ever got any grief from Ferrari/Pininfarina? This thread reminded me that I was always wondering what the Thorndyke special from the first Love Bug movie was. Actually a 1963 Apollo 3500 GT: While looking that up at imcdb I found other candidates for this thread: 1966 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 (if a GT is accepted): 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta LWB Scaglietti 'Tour de France': 1966 Bizzarrini GT 5300 Strada: And since I was wondering anyway why nobody had mentioned the E type so far: 1961 Jaguar XK-E Coupe (if You still recognize it ): That Thorndyke special reminds me a lot of the early Datsun Z, but maybe that came a little late to the party being released only in 1969. I leave the earlier japanese candidates for this thread to somebody else.

A mate told me once there was some remix of three iconic cars animated for the movie The Incredibles. The front end of an E type (could be some other coupe of that era though), the gullwing doors of the SL and the split window rear end of the corvette c2:
