The second Sunday in February means it is time for the annual “Picnic at Hanging Rock” (the 37th this year).
The weather was fabulous (possibly a little too hot – it was nudging 30 degrees). I popped along and took some pics.
Hanging Rock in the sunshine before the hordes arrived. Yes, it is the same Hanging Rock in the book / film, and no, the story isn’t true.
I’ll go by country (which is complicated enough due to the number of brands that assembled locally to get round import duties).
Let’s start with Australia, since we’re here anyway.
Holden first
Kingswood
Sandman vans
A van but not a Sandman
A Sandman but not a van
Utes that aren’t a Sandman
Monaros*
*Okay, the last one is an HZ GTS but they were descended from the 4 door Monaro GTS of previous generations.
Toranas
Commodores
A Gemini
Now Chrysler’s Aussie Chargers
Ford – I only took 3 photos of Fords…sorry of you wanted lots of pics of Falcons.
Cortina
Zephyr – this might be the car that competed in the 1963 Armstrong 500 (the predecessor to the Bathurst 1000), which was the first year the race was held at Bathurst. Or it might be a replica.
Probably the most widely recognised Australian car in the world (well, a copy of it)
Right, Japan next
This was very pretty
