Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Well RR20 is now fully underway, which is great. Got a call with the venue for our mid-summer birthday weekend on Wednesday, hopefully be able to share more after that. Keep the weekend of 13th and 14th July free in your diaries. In less positive news I found out over the weekend that the Club system hasn't been processing people properly since December, that is new members and renewals. I think I can get the renewals sorted pretty easily. The new members are a bit more involved, but I hope to get that done today or tomorrow too. Would also explain why emails haven't been going out to club folk. Other than that events world is swimming along nicely. I've got a February Theme Update on the go now, which if you are an eager beaver you can use already, it is VERY much a WIP for a couple of things, but hopefully get some more time this week to brush it up nicely. Going back to see the site how it was twenty years ago has also given me a bit of a renewed focus on some of the projects I'd been working on but put aside, and made me put aside some that I had been planning to do, hopefully we'll see the results of some of those over the next couple of months. Some fantastic photos on that blog.
I'm torn between doing very very silly things with the Carlton for the Weekender or just slamming it. Bought most of the stuff to do either, need to see what sort of time I've got. I did finally cave and did a full service on it, and also looked underneath for the first time (definitely the safest way to buy cars with known severe rot issues is just to not look because you really want one). Pleasantly surprised that apart from the front of the rear inner arches that's not there, which I knew about as I didn't have to bend down to see it, the rest is incredibly solid, with very little scabbing or anything. I'll give it a coat of underseal/cavity wax at some point this summer anyway, but at least it should be a fairly easy MOT at the end of May.

Looks very similar to when I passed through Mauritania in 06/07....think there might have been more Renaults(particularly the 12) back then...

Well, I was going to Race Retro on Sunday, but it's been cancelled due to weather. I was looking forward to that, too.

Hopefully the weather isn't going to wash everythign out again this year like it did a lot of last year. Classic & Restoration Show at NEC is I think the next big one at the end of March.

The Mercs were all a lot smarter, most had German "D" badges and suspect more than a few were less than honest(with their boots filled with smuggled alcohol)

Managed to pick up some cheap lowering springs for the Almera, looking forward to fitting them if the rain ever stops 😅 Would like to find some decent 4x114.3 alloys to go on it as well, but there's hardly anything around at the cheap end of the market, or when they do appear they seem to be miles away..

Started a thread on my MR2 at the end of Jan, still working my way through 20 years worth of notes, pictures and memories to create a timeline and list of jobs/mods. Surprising just how many I've done and how many I'd forgotten about, the list keeps growing as I stir my memory pot 🤣

On the very slim chance they might be reading this, to the driver of this (usefully, had got a snapshot of it a few months ago, looks great) that gave me a friendly beep earlier today... ...sorry I couldn't beep back. I had all on dealing with the rain, the car being on choke, the traffic, and not having had my morning caffiene infusion. The Princess isn't the easiest thing to pilot at times.

Had a wee day trip to Germany. Street spots arguably cooler than non-street spots...

Actually working on my own car for once. Now has working temp gauge (because aswell as buying a notorious for rot car without checking for rot, I also bought a notorious for cooling problems car without a working temp gauge) and relays in the headlight wiring so it's Getting almost full alternator voltage to the bulbs.
