I have got hold of a new project and it only has one set of keys. I would like to sort a second set but realise that 1986 was a few years ago so not a common part, and most companies want to charge the earth for cutting me a key as the blanks are so expensive. Well I can find the blanks but I'm struggling to find anywhere that is will willing to cut them for a reasonable price. I'm happy to send the originals or high res photo's of the originals. Any one know any good key cutters ? My picture of the new project which matches quite a few spots of this car as it lived its entire life on one road in central London. And yes this does share the same key type as slots of Audi / VW of the era if that helps any suggestions.

For my old Volvos, I just used a high street shop that cuts (domestic) keys. Cost under a tenner (I supplied the blanks).
If it has fancier keys, I guess a different machine might be needed...

Honestly? I'd just find an old AH-bladed key on eBay. 50:50 it'll work. Well, maybe not 50:50. I think I had 12 different AH-bladed keys at one point, and there were 4 that would open and start pretty much anything VAG of that period. In all seriousness, I've never had a problem taking a blank into a key cutting place for them to cut.

Speak to the local dealers and find out who they use
We have a company called city locks in Peterborough and I’m yet to find a key they can’t source a blank for and cut, including the Old Ford ones

I had two keys cut to fit my Loadstars lock barrel at a local locksmith for just under £20 just recently, i supplied the blanks, and that was with no key to go off (it was missing).
Granted its a single sided key but i didn't think that was bad at all all things considered. Northwich is a bit far from Oxford though..

My local hardware shop does mine. It slightly irks me that it doesn't seem to be any cheaper when I supply the blank to when they supply it! But meh. Its like a few quid so I don't complain.

When I needed spare keys for a Hyosung scooter the man in the engineering shop used some early Datsun blanks that he had in stock. Reckoned they'd be close enough and they were.
