Right after talking with the guy who knows all there is to know about Fiat engines i've planned my engine for the Uno. The only bit i'm not sure on is which Electronic Ignition setup to use.
I'd heard about Megajolt setups, and just had a quick read up on the net and they seem good for the money. Are there any disadvantages to it?
What other setups are out there?
Matt

I've used MBE before which does both ignition and fuel. There's quite a bit of support on the net for it. However something I learned from experience is that if you plan to use a local tuner try to get what they feel comfortable with.

I'm running carbs so just need the ignition bit. Is there anything wrong with the Megajolt setup? Its not gonna be a balls out engine, but should be making roughly 100hp/litre.

I'd go with the megajolt. I had a megasquirt in my cortina but it was jut running the ignition using an EDIS4 set up from a mondeo. Once you get your head around setting it up it awesome. Loads more power than the old points dizzy and absolute zero mantainence.

You need a coil pack, a control module or ecu, crankshaft sensor and toothed wheel and a throttle posistion switch. Check out the megasquirt forums www.msextra.com/index.php

I'm thinking of going with www.canems.co.uk it's a bit more expensive but the guy's an imper which is a good sign for me. Bit more expensive though than MJ I think? One of the mags was recently chatting about a canems setup IIRC With the canems stuff you don't need a coilpack/EDIS etc

That looks like complete fuel/ignition ECU to me. I just need something to control the ignition at the moment.

I've dabbled with megasquirt with a friend, built him a loom, though the mapping bit looked scary, but i'm told its easy to get the hang off. Seems a bit basic at first, but you add bits to your requirements. Money no object then the Emerald set up appears to be the one, but i've no experience of these.

I had the v8 dizzy done at a place in Brierlyhill you send your dizzy to them and they recon the old unit then replace all the internals with electronic gubins and you get it back looking totaly standard with a new coil for £120 I can sort the number out if any one needs it

I have a canems system on my mini it works really well and simple to install. Checkout his mini on throttle bodies.

Seen some done on triumphs and the like. Very cool and to look at it you wouldnt tell the difference from a standard dizzy.
