The other day I was out spotting and came across an old garage..... ....with a pair of pumps in the middle of an old row of terrace houses, as promised I've been back.......... ......I was a bit bored this morning and as SWMBO was taking up most of the lounge with her crafting stuff I took the Beetle out for a spin to fill it up and get a closer look at the place.

Lastly over in the corner was an old lockable box with Esso logos on... Thats what I call patina.... Doubt they have the new computerised system installed yet Inside its still brick lined with some modern tools and lifts, if they ever move out it would be perfect for a retro workshop as its huge, goes back the full length of a terrace house including the garden and is a double width front ;D

Great pics Speedman,
Would be a fantastic back drop for some moody van photos, half light with the modern curse word out of the way!!!

A bit of digging reveals that the garage was run by a chap called Bill Turner, a local man who died a few years ago and was well known around the town for sidecar scrambling, speedway and grasstrack racing The search continues

Great pics Speedman, Would be a fantastic back drop for some moody van photos, half light with the modern curse word out of the way!!! Cheers, sadly being in a terrace house row theres always cars parked up there, no space to squeeze a Beetle in this morning, but I'll keep trying ;D

Queens Road in Caversham, go past Cooper BMW and over Reading Bridge out of town, turn right before the T junction down Kings Road and follow it round the corner into Queens Road (not the big roads with the same names in the town but the terrace house roads in Caversham) and its on the right half way up My dad thinks theres another garage near where he grew up in Reading as well, thats the next mission then ;D

Theres so many tracks, garages, factories associated with racing and cars out there, it'd be a shame if they just vanished and nobody else got to see them so I thought I'd try and photograph a few of them On my list is the old track at Crystal Palace

wow thats a image from the past. Do like well weathered images. Gives it charactor.
Speedman. You may be able to help me. A friend has just moved to Reading. He needs a part and wants to find out the best car scrapyards locally. (He has a J reg 91 Metro GTi Grey you may see driving around and needs a fusebox) I'm guessing withing a 15mile raduis of Reading. Remove parts yourself type. Otherwise I'm going to have to post or drive a fusebox from Gloucester to him LOL Thanks in advance,

Here in Oz, collectors pay quite a bit for pumps and petrobilia. Sadly a lot of old servo's got bulldozed for ugly apartment buildings.
