(a) 1954 Austin A40 Somerset - great fun to tootle around in when it worked, I'd have another for sure, but this time, a nice one.
(b) 1954 Austin A40 Somerset - pi$$ed me right off every time I drove it and it didn't have enough power when I was late for work, eventually blew it up because the supplier gave us the wrong oil control rings. We found this out AFTER I blew it up.

At the time, I was glad to see the back of all 40-odd of my previous cars... but with hindsight, and rose tinted specs firmly on: Mk2 Sceptre, because I'd spent loads on it and it was dead solid Morris Ital 2.0 HLS, for it's rarity Peugeot 504 Chrysler 2-Litre, if the gearbox hadn't been knackered, and some prat (ie me) hadn't bodged a Cortina twin choke weber on get rid of the auto-choke... 1968 Mk1 Escort 2-door, because I sold it B.E.* for £375... *= Before Ebay.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

A - My snapdragon yellow stage one GT spec Clubman (longest car description evarrr?!), I miss that car, like a lot!!! that's the little bug that got me from blighty to Germany and back again to pick up my mates Ascona B in just over a day and a half with full reliability, it seemed to quite love roaring along at around 100mph for four hours in row on the autobahns! ;D Can't say I suffered in that journey either, I'm also 6' and at the time was around 15 and a half stone! I felt quite fresh! B - C reg Fiat Uno five door, I needed transport to work in a hurry, the gearbox fell to pieces around 11 days later. Nothing really worked on it, awful, awful! to be fair, it had had a terribly hard life, I was the 11th keeper! ;D

Keepy: BMW e21 323i Alpina replica. It had the full Alpina kit, sports seats and elecy windows and sunroof. Sold it for £400. If your out there X323WJT come home to daddy. Carlton GSi3000 12 valve. Written off by a drunk driver crashing into it 2 weeks after selling it. mk11 Toyota Supra 2.8 manual. Black, rusty, full of filler and leaky fuel tank didn't stop it burning off many a fast BMW in a strorm of rust flakes. Sierra xr4i 3 door. White and minty fresh. Was made an offer I wish I'd refused.
Thank god your're gone: 2 Renault 21's in a row. Rotten sub frame, dodgy electrics and the door fell off. It actually totally fell off and landed on the road. Nissan Silvia. As fast as you like until the turbo disconnected itself from the throttle going from 130bhp to 30bhp while over taking. Knackered brakes and popup headlights that would close if you went over a bump. Not great at night. VW Passat Turbo. This was a great car until the front wheel fell off while I was doing 50mph down a back road. The car was repaired but the velour was never then same again.

1990 Sapphire Ghia in Moondust silver, hybrid Janspeed/Ashley system, nice rims, but could I have another with no rust please? G plate 1.6 LX Sierra hatch. After inital teething problems rewarded my total abuse with complete reliability. You can't beat that. E plate Metro. Most reliable car evar and I sold it 'cos I was bored with it J reg GLSI Sapph. Fugly old banger that broke constantly and taught me the hard way the shortcoming of the DOHC's cylinder head. The rest of my Metros'. Most were rotten and knackered before I got my mitts on them, but eventually you get bored with five days driving (limping? ) and two solid ones mending the poxy thing!

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

Miss: Scirocco, Audi 90 but Polo G40 is the main one, had the horrible feeling as i was signing the V5!
Don't miss: Anything aircooled VW! I do like them when they work, and i like the shows and the friends they've made me, but....... they're hard work! I think i'm too hectic to be putting up with them these days.... maybe in the future but i've not regretted selling any of them.

I had a 1979 RWD Celica ST1600 (TA40). It was awesome, but rusty - and I couldn't weld at the time. Wish I had it now! It'd be a 1JZ-GTE powered 2.5 turbo beast without a doubt.

I never liked parting with my cars but some times there is little other choice. My second mini rocked, it took me to Le Mans and back and was an interesting if flawed car. My first Alfa 164 was superb, quick, handled well and the V6 made an awesome noise, shame I crashed it! Selling the Manta was a mistake, should've sourced a new engine for it instead. And most of all I really miss my 944, six years, eight track days and countless good times.

a) Mazda 1300 (still have it but a fuckhead wrote it off so its sitting out the front waiting to be parted out), RX-7 SII - good unmolested example. Ford Laser - was Australias best selling small car for a good reason, it just kept on going and going. Stupid brother wrote it off.
b) Mazda 1300 coupe - too much work for me, RA60 Celica - rust bucket
