I've still got my Mini but I wouldn't buy another. Decent ones are just too expensive and there are sooooo many other things I'd rather have for the money.

So which retro cars do you no longer own that (a) You wished you'd kept and would happily have another, Hmm, My A35 (first car) was taken from me so I'd love to have another and do a proper job on it Similarly I'd love to do an early series Rapier custom with mild chop and all but the one I had was with me at the wrong time and needed too much. Not sold that many cars! The Rapier was uncomfortable to drive but a proper sorting would get over that. The Saab was frustrating at times and I doubt I'll have another but its gone to a good home and I'm pleased about that.

My Renault 10. I got cheated out of it by the landowner in the end and I only ever drove it ten yards because of the gearbox. However, it was on the road retaxed until recently so someone must have done some work on it to get it road legal again. It had 60, 400 miles and everything in the interior was perfect, and all the hard to find bits (i.e. all of it) was there. It was stymied by the fact I was 17, had no money, it needed new discs and lines, the auto gearbox replacing with a manual (so easy, wheel out the engine and box, undo a rubber plug at the front, connect up the linkage and voila) and a fair bit of welding. Aarrgh. I will have a Dauphine, 8 or 10 again. However, the only thing I'd even consider swapping the Amazon for would be a Tatra 603\ 2, so I'd have to have it as well as that, the C4..... and this, other, erm, thing that I appear to have bought. Have a pic or two of the 10......

I'd have my old Green Mini back in a flash. It was a 1380. It was noisy, uncomfy, rusty and I had to work on it constantly but it made up for it as soon as you drove it!
The car I'd never want to own again would be my Ford Escort RS Turbo. It had one of those boost control things on it. When you turned it right up and floored it you would burn the clutch out! Terrible car!

1) both the minis, all the maxis, the granada, and strangely, the metro. 2) the MAESTRO (authough last night I received an email from the current owner with a pic of it now - with a twin cam turbo mentalist under the bonnet ) I hated the escort when I had it, but as soon as it went I realised what an easy to drive, quiet and economical car id just got rid of. The only thing that was against it was it was sooooo uninspiring!

a) The RX7. Awesome car. Will own another one day. If it wasn't for the fact that 2 things broke at once and I had no money to fix either due to putting all my cash down the filler neck, I would have kept it.
b) MK2 golf. Wouldn't own another one now that I've experienced a rocco. Unless it was for practicality purposes. Probably wouldn't get another kit car either, too much hassle finding parts for it. Random, unidentified nissan steering column anyone?

A) Jag XJ6 S3 4.2 auto, Cav Mk2 1.8 SRi, Nova TD, Mk1 (pre airflow) 'tina 1200, '59 Moggy 1000, Cav Mk3 SRi, Cav GSi, Anglia 100E (written off by already banned drunk driver), Maestro van, Bedford CF camper, 405 SRi (a belter of a car unlike the one in list b), 'tina Mk5 2.0 auto and probably loads more.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
