Now somewhere, sometime ago I recall seeing pictures of Dunlop alloy wheels, D1, D2 etc etc. It may have been in a magazine, but I'm sure we're talking in the last 2 years. Anyway, what I'm after is pictures of each style of Dunlop wheel in the 'D' range. Anyone out there who can help? I've googled myself silly looking with no real joy. Here's some alloy

The usual one I associate with the D1 is this ribbed design, usually black with polished "spokes" Also come across this. Don't know the designation though It looks similar in design to the alloy/steel MGB V8 / Scimitar wheel which were also Dunlops I think.

They're D1s all right . Those others are the ones I'm particularly interested in Seth . Anyone know if they're D2s, D3s etc ??

Not totally sure on the designations, but I think the square holed one piece type wheel above is a D1 type B. The ribbed style design is possibly the D1 A then? Could be the other way round though. The alloy/steel rims were of basically similar design, possibly called D4 type B? There were a few other alloy designs and wider versions of standard steelies, and IIRC also bolt on wire wheels as well.

The 'regular' Dunlop is the D1. I've never heard of the A or B designation. If I could get to my copies of Hot Car and CCC from the early 70s I could scan the ads...
The Scimmy type is the D3. This is a composite wheel - steel rim and alloy centre.
There was a D2, and from memory this was a steelie.
If I can get to the mags I'll scan something for you Baz.

The D2 was a wide steelie very similar - if not identical - the the Lotus Cortina Mk1 wheel. Ford hubcaps fit them. I've only seen then in Ford fitment. I rremember someone who was a Lotus anorak complaining about people selling D2s as "Lotus Cortina wheels" as technically they weren't,
One of my old Hot Car or something will have an ad with them all in I'm sure

Excellant guys, that's exactly what I was after. these are the wheels I've got: Judging by the small holes next to the stud holes they seem to be the D1 style B. I also have a set of D1 style A to go on Madge at a later date.

Looks like I was on the right track after all thankfully. Those do indeed look like D1 style B wheels bazzateer. Yes I was thinking they look like some old wheeltrims from years ago, but couldn't remember what they were called. ;D
