I did chris mate, but unfortunately the one I nabbed off you was a 9-pin jobbie, and the car refused to crank (starter just span), whereas when I put the old 10-pin in it fired up first time. So i'll stick that in the post for you today/tomorrow. Thanks anyway dude.
Dolly - yeah I just go on the Mercedes UK site and go to the dealer locator - and it comes up with my local dealer, in my case being hertford. The one in that I use at uni, in Poole are also very good with parts.

I'm always impressed with Mercedes' parts supply. Sometimes the price is a bit hard to swallow though! Looks like they came through for you! I'm confused as to which part this is... the V8 ignition modules I've seen are nearly a grand from ECP, but that can't be the same part as yours.

But it also controls something to do with the ignition or mass air flow or something, so just shorting it out may not fix the problem, as Tig found out...

Ah, Volvos do that one. A relay that controls supression also has some other random jobs to do!

I learnt this lesson many years ago, see what the local main dealer will do, and often you'll be surprised. Many breakers see electronics as easy money and charge high compared to what the MD might, certainly been the case around here, but we have a distinct lack of good yards locally these days.I had heard mercedes were good at supporting older models so its nice to see that validated(always fancied an S or E series myself so encouraging thoughts there - better than the obscene money BMW once charged me for E39 5 Series wipers once)

I was on the hunt for some bits for the Chamois and was also visiting a mate in Hertford, so ended up at the first place on the short list that I had complied of car breakers in Hertford. I went here: Temple Motors, Warehams Lane, Hertford, Hertfordshire SG14 1LA, Tel: 01992 582643. It was an okay place, just off the A414 near central Hertford. Got me a Fiasco rad, a Civic alternator and a random header tank for my cooling system for £40. Reasonably chuffed. Shall be even more so when I've got it all in and working. "I'm"
