Well, the time has come for my Senator to embrace a new owner. It's about as good as I can make it, and I need to clear the garage for non-essential DIY (running theme (c) Pogweasel) - I don't want to leave this beauty on the drive. Plus funds for my upcoming wedding would be nice...
Ahem. The basics - 1987/D Mk1 (or Senator A officially) 2.5i, straight six, rare 5-speed manual (Getrag 265 box I think? BC correct me if I am wrong), 70k miles (almost certainly genuine, but service book lost when last owner - who had the car from 1990 to February this year - traded it in at the supplying dealership). 3 owners in total. Garaged every night for last 16 years.
Not far off conkers condition - a few minor dinks and scratches only. Everything works bar the fuel gauge (reads half-full when tank full - voltage stabiliser just gone on the blink) and electric aerial, which rises fine but doesn't retract every time.
MOT till 20.4.07 (flew through with no advisories), tax to end of month, I've spent about £650 on it (new clutch, new exhaust centre pipes, fixed the central locking and electric windows, new tyre and tracking, very full service performed by my good self). Drives beautifully. Comes with a good stack of spares too and lots of paperwork.
Oh, here's a picture, taken at the VBOA show last week. One of only two Senator A's there on the Saturday.
Will be on eBay from tomorrow evening @ 8pm for 7 days at £650 Buy-It-Now or best offer. I listed it last week but it didn't make reserve (see EBay Cars Vol 11 page 28 on the General forum for the link, which has a massively detailed description of the car and a link to 34 pictures of it) - I'll consider offers above £500 (about half the price of a Mk2 Grandad in similar condition). If you make the offer through eBay and I accept you'll get 7 days free comprehensive insurance cover...I pay £150 a year on a limited-mileage, agreed value classic policy by the way.
Interested? PM me. Car is in Newbury, Berkshire. Free tea/biscuits on collection if you buy it...
