I'm having a big, big re-think regarding my fleet. You'll be pleased to hear this has NOTHING to do with the Corsa I'm driving ATM though (although if anyone wishes to purchase a Sabre "electronic dump valve", PM me, discretion assured, sent out in plain wrapping etc etc) So, here's the first casualty of the slimming-down exercise! It has a years' MOT and tax to September and is pretty much all original. It had a brand new Weber carb just before I got it although the fuel cut-off solenoid thing doesn't work, and we swapped the distributor out for another one since the original was worn. I've also changed the air filter and leads, and Old Skool Cortina replaced some other bits too shortly before I got it. Nice runner, my father-in-law's been using it for his 40-mile round trip to work and I've been using it a bit, and it's behaved impeccably. Bodywork's NOT perfect, it's got a few dings and some surface rust, and there's a patch on one sill which isn't pretty but would tidy up OK. I can email high-res photos later if anyone wants.
I'm looking for about £200 - anyone up for it? Feel free to come and have a look, make offers, come round for a cup of tea etc.

PM replied to Jenn! Took some pics for the rest of you but didn't think to get any nice shots of the whole car. D'oh! The second nastiest place on the car IMHO! And there's the nastiest. More here (if Photobucket will let you in).

What's it like underneath? Looks like it wants a good scrub down and a repaint. Does it drive nicely ignoring the attack of the tappets?

It's a pretty solid car, although I must admit I've not been underneath it at all - I only got it in May and I've concentrated on the Escort! But I had it MOT'd last Tuesday and I wasn't warned of any impending doom underneath. I can get under it Saturday morning and have a poke about / take some pictures if you like (actually I probably will anyway as much for my own peace of mind). What it needs is, like you say, a proper scrubbin' (which it WILL get at the weekend!) and the anti-dieselling solenoid replacing (I think Old Skool Cortina has a carb with one in). I'd like to stick a pair of tyres on it but just can't afford to... Body-wise if you wanted to make it really nice it would need a coat of paint, and if you were painting it nicely it'd want a pair of wings and the door bottoms repairing, and a good grinding of the arches. Otherwise, it drives well, only minor niggle is that the throttle's a little bit sharp, but that might just be me being used to Sierras / mk1 Escorts etc! I seem to remember my ex's 1300 Ghia was the same. All depends whether you want something to smoke about in (for which this is fine) or a potential "WOW"-car (for which I'd recommend buying a better one). Got some interest in it but nothing solid yet! The main interest actually being a swap for a Minor which is by no means solid...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Stuck it on Ebay last night but the pictures took ages to upload so it'll finish when most people are off to bed, on a Sunday night. Should have thought that through a bit better! ;D Still, anyone who's interested, send a PM, come and have a butchers!
