I am not convinced I want to do this, but here goes:
1987 ‘E’ VW Scirocco GT
Was 1.6, now 1.8, 151k miles, but approx. 6k miles since engine fitted and major overhaul. See below.
Jade Metallic (green) with black bodykit. Standard bodywork (except for debadged rear hatch) and interior.
The engine was rebuilt from a good 1800, and after run-in was 102bhp@wheel on rolling road (120-125bhp@flywheel) utlising K&N filter, re-jeted Weber carb (also 6k miles old), ported and polished head, Kent GS2H cam & vernier pulley, matched GTI manifold & downpipe, and Jetex exhaust.
HOWEVER I will be removing the cam and replacing with a GTI item – engine should still see 110bhp-odd, and go well (and sound nice). Extra cash over the price below might persuade me to leave the Kent cam in.
Suspension: Boge gas dampers (5k mile old Febi top mounts), Bilstein springs (approx. -30mm), poly wishbone bushes.
Brakes: Front: Vented 239mm with Pagid pads, Braided hoses. Rear: Std rear drums with braided hoses. Less than 20k mile old master cylinder.
6000 miles ago was when the engine was fitted, and most of the suspension work carried out, while at the same time most other bits were checked and renewed ie filters, brake fluid, gearbox oil, cv joints re-greased, etc. Fuel tank and filler neck are only a few years old.
Will come with decent 14” teardrop alloys c/w centre caps, and 185/60 tyres.
Bodywork is solid and straight, with no rust, but some poor finish close up. Very solid underneath. Interior in fair condition, apart from usual wear to drivers seat.
9 months MOT, 3 months tax.
Put a lot of time and effort into this car, but child seats (for my twins) won’t fit in the back, which is becoming inconvenient.
Looking for £550.
Pictures to follow.
