I'm on the lookout (again) for a daily car, as my n reg escort is dying at last! Needs to be: A hatchback or estate due to load carrying duties, suitable for lots of miles, as going from Nottingham to Wales everyweekend isn't much fun with a modified 1.3 Starlet with silly low suspension! & preferably not too thirsty. What have ya got? Edit: Dare I say it, it doesn't even have to be retro for these duties, sad I know, but thats the way life is

my cortina mk5 estate will be up for sale in a few weeks.. just have to arrange a date for the mot... so it will have 12monthes mot on it.... sierra twincam 8v engine.. 5 speed 42mph 130ish hp. no rust to worry about slight bit on rear lower panel behind rear wheel hardly anything... leather front seats. slightly smaller stering wheel quite retro.. sierra steel wheels (big hole little hole 14's with the rears reverse rimed.) polybushed on the front... air adjustable ride hight rearshocks so can be levelled with wieght in the back. was my daily for over a year... excellent i would drive it anywhere.. no rattles or smoke etc.. was gonna stick it on ebay . all i need to do is put the new dash clocks in (with a rev counter). get a new front no. plate ordered.. and book it in for the mot... let me know if your are interested.. si

Cortina sounds awesome, but how much are you looking for for it? no offence skodastop, but I'm not much of a skoda fan-don't have anything to base my opinions on, just don't really like them! sorry

I reckon in the right light and the right colour, at the right angle, they're a really good looking car. Front quarter in a darkish colour seems to do it. From other angles they can be pig ugly. However they're smashing to drive, very economical and nicely uncommon. High boot lip is a problem for haulin' stuff though. I agree on the mk3 polos being like tardisses (tardii?).... i used to camp in mine, whole weeks worth of clothes and food plus tent plus two adults and still see out the back window. anyway. back to the subject. mate at work is selling a Volvo 850 T5 wagon. reasonable nick, not massively thirsty as long as you stick to motorways, plus it's quick enough for some yobbery at the weekends pm me if you want details as i always forget to check threads like this.
