for sale 1997 VR6 golf mkIII
1997 'P' reg
2.8L manual 5 speed
taxed until end Nov '06
MOT'd until 28th October '06
last of the mkIII's
maroon
leather interior - VW call it silver I'd call it grey-ish...
fully loaded - car was originally a dealer's demonstrator - so has:
climate control
electric sunroof
electric windows (the rear passenger one is a bit tempermental and sticks)
sony radio cassette with 10 cd changer in the boot.
VW tow bar & electrics - swan neck - hardly ever been used.
driving lamps in colour coded front grill (no VR6 badge)
it's mechanically standard.
new discs and pads all round for the last MOT - and went straight through with no problems - the tester's only comment was 'bet that's fun'
high miles: 222,300
I bought the car last October for a friend of 20 years. He'd owned the car for a year and a half and had bought it from his boss who's had it since almost new (dealer's demonstrator - first of all). The miles are mostly motorway miles and it was maintained by VW while my friend's boss owned it. lots and lots of receipts - VW (18 stamps in the service book - then serviced by the last keeper .... water pump, starter at end of '04 and wheel bearinng and 4 wheel alignment by a VAG dealer at end of 04 as well.)
I've known the car since it was nearly new - why is why I bought it
It's a very clean car (in my view) and I've driven it about 8000 miles since owning it and it's never let me down.
depending on the price agreed I could fit a new windscreen before sale, as it cracked recently.
would make a fab tow car for any of you racers out there, or a parts chaser, or perhaps a non retro track day car ??
Bad points - couple of small rust scabs on the body work (picture below) and the bonnet is a pretty stone chipped & the cat has a very small crack in it - which I gum-gum'd up for the MOT and it had no probs with emissions at the last MOT. I've got a spare cat (bought from ebay) which came off a crashed VR6 - which I'm told had recently passed its mot and the emisssions were fine. I also have a spare mid exhaust box and a spare set of alloys as well. All these to be included in the sale.
car is in Horsham in Sussex.
any questions please ask...
I'm told it's worth around £1100 or so, so I will take offers.
It needs to go - my mum wants the space on her drive back and I need some money. I've tried to describe the car accurately, so sensible offers please.
viewing no problem by arrangement
divorce is reason for sale.
cheers Nick
it's a bit dirty in the pics - sorry!
