Story is that the old girl has to go. My dad has been looking after the car since it was 6 months old, but now it is over 200k miles and the head gasket has let go. He has already bought the replacement and wants the car to go a home, not a yard.
The paint is tired, there are a few parking scars. The drivers door is goosed (although there is another that will come with the car, and some kind hearted soul has tampered with the lock, so that needs changing.
Now that was the bad part, the good part is that it has 12months MOT, good tyres on 5 spoke 14" alloys, newish exhaust, standard greyed rear lights (cosworth ones are the same), it has had recent rear calipers, disks and pads. New rad only a few months back. The 'box is good and it ran great until the head went (clearly I mean the rest of the running gear, if the donk is cooked.)
Would be ace for a winter smoker if you want to swap the engine out for a breaker item (12 months MOT) or there are lots of good usable parts on it for a kit car/engine transplant.
It is up for £300 so what's the worst that can happen?
Contact the old boy at salfordken_at_aol_dot_com
Cheers for looking, and I hope that this might fit the bill for someone out there.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yeah, it was going fine literally until the day he bought the other car!
We did not expect it to get through the MOT, but the beggar did! If it cost £100 to fix then it would still be worth only £100 more than it is now, so we are not about to swap engines out on the road infront of his house, so if there is no interest then it will be cubed. it'll be sad, but probably just for dad.
Trouble is that it is neither desirable or interesting enough for it to be taken on by anyone.

See what happens on the FSOC for sale board, sounds too good to be cubed but no buyers then thats how it is. Give it a last chance on ebay with a low start, that MOT will inspire someone. Any pics and location in the meantime? are you in Salford?

The car is in Salford, along with my dad, and I'm just outside of Warrington, on the south side. I'd post up a pic, but photobucket won't let me log on! BB

I'm sorry, but I think you will have to lower the asking price to less than £100 to get any interest.
It's a shame but you never get the money back on repairs / new parts so the new bits are a bit by the by.
No offence intended, just giving an honest opinion!
On the bright side - You might make 100 pounds on the wheels/tyres alone. Someone who picks it up for scrap will probably be happy to not have to take the tyres as they carry a disposal cost.
Tell your dad its had a good innings as cars go - 15years and 200K is pretty good!

Bah, if you were closer i'd be very interested, on the verge of buying a 3.9 V8 and bits from a range rover, so this would be perfect ! Good luck, maybe some of the "drifters" on here would be interested ?

Thrasher, if you are interested in giving the old girl a new lease of life, get in touch with dad, and we'll see if there is a deal. Structurally sound, running gear is all good, just needs a new donk and it should be right for a couple of years yet.
anthonyg, none taken, but not relevant really. I was putting up the info for reference, as we are trying to flog the dear, it is best that all the good as well as the bad points are known. So at least if you buy her you know that you shall not need to replace the parts that have just been done. As for recouping costs, as you say, after 15yrs and 200k+ miles, she doesn't really owe us anything!
Thanks for keeping it near the top though!
