a fellow mg m group member has had his mg maestro written off in an accident and he's hoping someone can help him. he either needs a new bodyshell or some structural panels such as A and B posts, floorpans and full sills. would a 2nd hand shell end up on a Q plate?? any help or leads would really be appreciated

Technically, yes, it should be a Q plate.
To be honest, it may be better to find another MG Maestro while there are still some around and then transfer any mods to it. Was it a Turbo?

the car is basically knackered but it holds alot of sentimental value, he has actually been talking to the chinese about importing a brand new shell

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I sympathise entirely. I spent £4k doing up my 2CV, replacing most of the bodyshell just because I have grown fond of it. The sensible thing to do would have been to bin it and buy another good solid one for £2k but you can't keep going like that so why not save one?

If the shell is brand new and never been on the road it will end up on its original reg if I understand right.
