Considering selling my 1988 Skoda Estelle 105LUX, its in very good condition for age, low mileage (26000ish), tested till April but no tax, and BEIGE. Excellent runner, thinking of selling due to lack of use. £450. Can deliver at cost

The only probs it has at the moment is no brakes due to knackered master cylinder, but this will be fixed before i sell it, will sort out pics of interior and engine bay in daylight. Might even have an up and over manifold and 40DCOM Weber available as well

I don't really know anything about skodas, whats are these like for motorway jouneys/fuel economy. Are they very practical/reliable as an every day car as this would need to replace my pug. Guy

The 105 is 1046cc with a 4 speed box, but it sits quite happily at 70mph on the motorways, i used it quite regular towards the end of last year and never had a problem with it. Economy wise i think 40mpg is quite reasonable. Its not the quickest car in the world, top speed is about 80+ but is great fun to drive. I will be sad to see it go if i do sell it.

Obviously I'm biased, but I've been using rear engined Skodas as a daily driver for almost 17 years and I love 'em! Motorways don't show these Skodas at their best TBH, but they are entirely tolerable. The biggest problem on motorways is their stability in crosswinds, not dangerous by any means, but something to bear in mind. Fuel economy is very good, expect 30mpg minimum around town, up to 50 mpg gentle cruising. They are not as practical for luggage as a hatchback obviously, but 5 adults can fit reasonably comfortably, and the front boot is fairly large. There is a small luggage area behind the rear seats for squashy bags, and those seats also fold flat.[50/50 split]. The best Skoda features are the fun character, the handling, the quaint charm, and the odd quirky bits like the grand piano luggage bonnet. They aren't fast by any stretch of the imagination, but the beauty of them is the fun you can have without needing to drive fast. Try it on a country B road, if you enjoy "proper" driving I promise you'll be hooked!

But PLEASE don't try combining this: but 5 adults can fit reasonably comfortably, With this: Try it on a country B road, if you enjoy "proper" driving I promise you'll be hooked! I have horrible memoris of devastating brake fade following some 'spirited' driving with several burly mates on board ;D
