YO, well i have paid for this old clunker and am picking it up in Landaaahhhn next weekend (19th Feb). I was expecting to get a real sickly depressed feeling in my stomach when I found i'd won it on the bay but that has not materialised, which is encouraging.



Apparently it has been parked up for two years but starts runs and drives champion! I hope so, i'm gonna drive it 400 miles!!!!! Just need to find a rear bumper (he said optimistically...)

At worst it could provide an engine upgrade + 5-speed box for the coupe, but I'm finding the possibility of smoking round in it quite appealing! with 5 gears and PAS it should be far more appealing to pilot than the koop. NB love those old AA badges.

Can you say sleeper? Whip in a rotary engine and you've got yourself one... or you could pimp it and slam it on hydraulics and some chrome wires lol.

it would defo make a good sleeper of some sort... euro-market FWD 929's came with a 3.0V6 which would make it into a v. cool chariot, like antdats's 180B 3.0 V6. I aint got the energy for that though, as soon as i've got the garage space available i'm gonna start on the 2.7 V6 Honda-powered SD1.

How is the planning for the SD6....! going? Have you got much more forward with the gearbox setup? How easy will it be to fit onto the honda power plant or don't you know yet!

They are great old buses... I owned one for six months and travelled all over the South West in it, usually with the back full of Imp spares. Was great on juice too....

I scrapped it at a yard just outside Dorchester about seven years ago - might still be there for the back bumper!

I think its gonna be a bit awkward... some chopping and ally-welding of bellhousings at the very least... But when I have all the bits around me though for measuring up I reckon i'm gonna design a bellhousing and get it modelled up in 3D by a mate, then take it to a couple of foundries and see how much it will cost to get a few cast up. Just imagine a conversion kit to mate this engine to the Rover box - 24v Honda powered SD1's, Marinas, Stags, TR7's and christ knows what else!! Now THATS a world I wanna live in.

'The Horse'... I like that! It is a proper old J-horse, thats a fact. I might get a sticker made up that says 'HORSE' and bosh it in the window.

Those 80's 929 koops have mega turd-hole styling in my view. They look like they were styled by some half-witted committee of gun-slingin' yanks aimin' for a 'european' look, in fact i'll bet a quid thats how they were styled.

Love the stacked lamps on the saloon though! Wonder if there's any 929 wagon 'stackers' left in the UK?

WOW this is so wierd, when I used to work at the local Mazda main dealer we had a customer with one of those late model 929 coupes, it was redish orange with a black stripe over the centre and those cool half popup/twist lights well I haven't seen it for about eight years or more but today the bloody thing drove past me at the local supermarket and then I get home and theres a photo of one right here ;D ;D

I always thought about asking if they'd sell it but never did
