it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The R8 Rovers are nice. Would look great if he'd bothered to clean it!
Only thing to watch is the cambelt. Oh and rear arches can rot.

Can confirm that wedge shaped rovers like that one are pretty nice motors. Very smooth to ride in.

Very good point - imo a rule to budget motoring is getting something with an OHV engine, where you don't have to worry about getting the cambelt changed. If you haven't got time to do it yourself, it can be significant labour money ontop of a £200 car ;D

I have literally just driven past that car's location on the way home from work I guess I could stop for a look if anybody wanted... F-in-L is an ex-rover mechanic and rates the Honda engined 200. I think there is one 'weak' ignition compoment that goes on them, quite simple fix but pricey I think?

don't buy a k series rover then for fook sake!!!! rovers after 1985 aint worth touching mate. I may have something in the next few days for you It isn't a K series! It's the Honda engine. Not sure I agree with you that much at all really. Had a 1996 Rover 414 a while back and it was a fine car. Diesels are another way to avoid the head gasket nightmare. Bit of a generalistic statement to say that all Rovers after 1985 are rubbish. Simply isn't true!

Simply isn't true! i didnt say it was a k series, i just said not to buy one but have a look on ebay and tell me how many rovers there are with headgasket failure and then tell me rover made a good car (without rebadging a honda) after the sd1. ;D

e-thuggin Merely a suggestion for a cheapy car with decent amount of MOT and tax, in a reasonable location to where specified... there's not *that* much out there for around £200...
