I am selling this car due to fact I am a serial car hoarder, so something has to go. I’ve had the car since August after it had been with the same owner for 10 years, I used it extensively over the summer, up and down the country and even in the hot weather it never overheated. It has a genuine 45,000 miles. These cars tend to rust everywhere but the only visible surface rust is on the sills and the front door skins and I can put you in touch with a man who can supply the door bottoms to you. The arches are rust free, as are the inner wings – in short it’s structurally very good. The only welding it has had is on the inner sill, but the rest is untouched. The interior is very good for a car of this age. It wouldn’t take much to get this car mint again.
The minor sides is the ding on the front wing and bumper, slight gouge belong the filler cap and needs a good rub down with some T-Cut or really a respray. The engine is reliable, but really would benefit from a good service – occasionally it is a slow starter and smokes a little on start up. Generally these A12 series engines are bullet proof, so you might want to spend time sorting it out or junk the engine and put something a little more powerful. Members of the Datsun Owners club have shoe-horned Silvia turbo lumps in there to astonishing effects.
It would be shame to weigh in the car as its one of the more solid Datsuns I’ve encountered – such cars are rare these days as the best ones go for silly money. I would like to see the car saved, but it’s up to you what you do with it! Therefore Banger racers or exporters are welcome to contact me. I know these cars are worth at least £500+ to an exporter to Africa, especially in 4 door form.
Here's what you could do do it....
I'm looking for £400 for it. The car is in Coventry, very close to the A46. It has 6 months MOT and tax until the end of February.
Cheers,
Darren
[Edit] Drivers side image added - and I forgot to mention the front now has lowered springs, so the rear doesn't sag anymore....
