I'm looking for a cheap project car or motorbike for me and my dad to mess about with, We are in west sussex and would prefer not to have to travel too far because we don't have a trailer, unless someone could hire us one? Anyone got anything or know of anything?

I've got a Chevette I'll be getting rid of soon for not much (£100? I paid £500 for it with an MOT just over a year ago, oops.). It needs new out wings really although they could possibly be welded up. Also needs patches to the ends of the sills, and a couple of bits of welding around the drivers footwell. The rear arches could use a tidy, but I could include repair panels. I think there are some photos on here somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.
I'd rather see it go to someone looking for a project than stick it on the bay and let it get broken really. Only thing is no MOT, and it's in Southampton. I could recommend a guy who could drop it off on a flat bed for about £100 though...

I know its a crazy, mental kinda out-there idea but why not decide what sort of car you're after, how much money you've got and what work you could or couldn't tackle, then have a look around for something suitable? Perhaps on eBay and in the yellow paper and that.
Failing that, I have a 1937 Mercedes 540K which needs a re-shell and a new back box if thats of any interest.

My Legacy is up for grabs for £500. A couple of new doors and a sill, a good clean up, wheel covers etc, and double your money at the very least!!
Or, buy a ratty VW squareback, and put the Subaru engine and gearbox in it - there's a nice project.

My turn , I have a pretty Sierra Sapphire chasseur ready for action, its great, so you can concentrate on minimal TLC and getting some serious power out of it. or persuade me to sell my Mk1 MR2 summer friendly T bar before I do the clutch...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place
