As Victor Meldrew would say! ;D ;D ;D Went up to the lockup garage where my nearly totally stripped 1975 racing Imp is, and near had a heart attack when I realised the door had been kicked in, despite my home made strengthening to stop that happening again, and found the lockup had been robbed! Don't know whether to hate the guys or admire them, they sure were talented. Besides lots of bolts, lights, four spare wheels, a trolley jack and some spanners, sockets etc (although I have a good set at the house of spanners and sockets so it's Ok) they took... wait for it... the Imp's engine and the bloody rollcage which was bolted inside the bloody car!! How the f*ck did they steal and engine and a rollcage without being seen doing it?! Ah well, I've been planning on getting a six point safety devices cage for it anyway, and I'm thinking of getting a new head for the engine I've got in at the moment anyway, but that's not the point, besides now I've lost my spare engine! If I catch the guys who done it first I'll shake their hands for a job well done, then I'll cut them off with an angle grinder! ;D ;D ;D They won't do it again after that! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Scum they obviously knew what they were after! just keep an eye for an imp running round with a roll cage in your area!! Just a blessing they didn't take the whole car Glad you posted this as its reminded me to check my rented garage as i've not checked it for a while.

You have my deepest sympathies, the pond life that did this will one day get their deserts. Little sods.
I think that has to be one of my biggest fears.....hope the car had some insurance. If not you have the engine number, so its basically useless to anyone else right?

you must be well p*ssed off, i would be. but you have to admit that it is quite funny that someone has broke into you car, spend the hours taken to remove the roll cage and then take an engine, esp. when they probably don't have an Imp! the fools!

Rev,
I totally and utterly sympathise. Whoever nicked it are deffo Imp people - although a strange, sick sort of Imp fan would steal another man's parts. Keep your eyes peeled on ebay, in the local free ad papers, tell the local area centre rep and shout it from the rooftops so that these scumbags can't sell these items or use them in their own cars. I did this once before and got the parts returned in the middle of the night.... in rural Dorset. Hmmm....
I have different probs at the moment - I've recently moved to a smaller flat without a garage but it does have a shed in the garden, so a lot of the Imp parts were stashed in there.
The local yobs have just discovered butane, crack and beer (not necessarily in that order) and use our garden for somewhere to hang out & get blasted - cos its impossible to make secure, and its nice and secluded. They've obviously got bored with just destroying their mushed-up brains, cos for the past week we've had ever worsening attempts to break into the shed. To ensure nothing too valuable gets trashed, stolen or just strewn around the neighbourhood, our little one bedroom flat is now full of all the Imp parts from the shed.... its a little cramped and now smells of engine oil. Nice...

Fu*kin scum bags! my dads mate was building a mk1 escort and his lock up got broke into and they stole the twin 45s off the engine but left everything else! bastards. as it was a rear cage i hope they fit it in their imp and a comedy Acmy style safe falls on the front crushing them, funny and ironic!

Sorry to hear that, madness. They are bound to turn up! I'd love to catch the c*nts that done it. if you see them for sale, arrange a viewing, bring a few mates that are a bit handy, knock the bloke on his and reclaim your parts.

Thieving f*ckin' scum. Yeah, scan eBay, local ad papers and let the Imp community know. I'd definitely pose as a customer if I saw the bits - go round and kick the living sh!t outta them. Take your parts back, and maybe some extras as interest. Then burn their scummy hovel to the ground. You can bet the rozzers won't bother - they're too busy trying to snare innocent motorists when they go a few mph over the limit.

i'm sorry to hear to that, its happened to me too so i know just how you feel.they broke in throught the roof of my garage stole my racing go kart and dragged it out of the garage over the roof of the car! go get them,i sure most of the decent people here would turn a blind eye to them getting a kicking. on a more serious note ,what part of the world are you and did the engine and cage have any distinguishing features we can keep an eye out for?

That's bad news. I'm with everyone else on posing as a buyer if you spot the stuff. A good kicking works wonders. Or, the more 'pleasant' alternative, if you do see the stuff, view it to confirm it's yours then inform the Police, letting them know you're going back to collect. You never know, they might just help.

Bas****s! The effort required to unbolt the cage and take the engine! Although it's tempting to assume that they must have been imp nuts, it's also dangerous to ascribe any degree of rational thought to these people. I'd go for a drive around the local area. They probably thought it was funny when they were doing it, got bored 1 mile down the road (as they will have the attention span of a mayfly with alzheimers) and dumped them in a hedge somewhere!

Amen to that, I should really go to the lockup and check the bug since I haven't been back for a while. That said I don't know if I could stand it if things had been nicked, I've already been robbed of all my tools twice
