I need a car. I'm not in a hurry and am open to suggestions. I'm after a 1970 - 89ish Japanese rear-wheel drive or 4WD car with manual gearbox. Preferably oddball, classic, coupe. Yes to: 120Y, R100, RX2, RX3, RX4, MX5, Mazda 1000, Toyota 1000, 180B SSS, 510, 610, Mitsubishi (70's coupe, can't remeber), Starion, Lancer, Corolla. 2 door, 4 door, estates considered.
No to: some cheese like Violet, 910 Bluebird, S12 Silvia etc. Try me. Links also appreciated
Must be solid and fairly tidy. I'm not going to race / banger / drift it. Never have, never will. Just looking for a fun classic as a daily to cherish. I'm a mechanic but not a bodywork dude!
Replies here or to ferg[AT]monkeyrun.co.uk please Surrey
Cheers, Ferg

Ferg,
The Mitsubishi 70s coupe that you cant remember. Could it be a Celeste. They came in ST, GT and GSR form. RWD and manual. Ticks all the boxes that you require. Problem is, finding one!

Hello Ferg. Howzabout a Lancer Turbo with a new MoT? Its not exactly in cherishable condition and its had an awful lot of welding......could use some more in places too but it don't half fly along!!!!! Here's a real opportunity to improve those bodywork skills of yours. Only £500.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We're in the right area but I'm after something closer to original condition or that doesn't require much bodywork. I'd love a Lancer or Starion!

Possibly. It'd have to be lovely and un-messed with. Then there's the fuel consumption and the engine time-bomb....

I've got a '76 120Y coupe in pretty good shape with T&T, but what are you looking to spend?
I've also got an '81 Violet 160J that needs putting back together. Its has a CA18ET with it, but not fitted.
