Hows about this...
Retro Rides drag race club - either running at RWYB venues or i'm sure we could find some private time at a drag strip somehow. Running on standard sportsman rules so everyone is in with a fair chance - nearest dial-in wins and all that so a 45bhp camper can effectively beat a 600bhp nitrous turbo'd rwd escort.
anyway - everyone chips in £5 or so at the start of the season, which should pay for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd price of a few quid or a bottle of bubbly or something.
just adds a bit of competition to the place, results get posted up after each 'round', bit of friendly rivaly...
anyone? did think of applying it to circuit racing but it's a lot more expensive to run at and harder to balance it out - the fastest car always has the better chance.

Right that's three... not sure how the locations thing would work, we could arrange say 4-5 meets throughout the year, say at the pod and york to make it easy for north and south.... lets see how much interest there is first

Sounds cool. What are these standard sportsman rules that give the ZS a fighting chance?
Would be keen to have a bash. The mechanic who looks after the ZS runs a street legal MG Magnet drag racer with around 800BHP. Maybe we could bring that along too!

well i'll have to read up on them to make sure i know what i'm on about, but basically you dial-in a time based on previous experience, say 18.5s - the guy next to you in his fire-breathing nitroused monster dials in 14s. He's obviously gonna get to the end quicker than you but it's whoever is closest to dialin, so if you run a 18.55 and he runs at 14.8 (or breaks out, is faster than 14s), you win. it's more skill than just foot down hard. but you still get the timing ticket to brag to your mates in the pub afterwards that your car is faster than theirs
