Just got the minor delivered home today and after a quick poke round it don't look too bad at all. It started, it drove (although the brakes are gonna need freeing off) and although I tried I couldnt find the rotton spring hanger I was told about so I guess it might not be as bad as I thought.
I think I'll slap an mot on it, lower it a lot and use it as a daily while I'm working on my Cortina + zetec + megasquirt experiment.
Heres some pics, I take some better ones in the daylight and post them in readers rides when I get round to it.

I remember seeing pictures of a minor in street machine a few years back, that was totally standard looking apart from a massive lowering job and 17 inch 5 spokes and it looked wicked.
I'm a big fan of the deseamed look too and I love that curvy rear end so I think a bit of detrimming and loosing the back bumper and no plate might be in order. Maybe flush mounted rear lights too.

Yes yes yes! Frenched tail lights would be great! The Minor is such a cool shape... it just cries out to be customised.

Remember if you lower it at the front (on the splines) one turn = 1 inch. With standard 14" wheels that will look cool as! Try and squeeze 175/70's on the rims and polish them!!

I have a set of 13" deep steelies but you can't go very low on them..

I don't think so. I bought it from a guy in romford and it used to be his sisters. She'd just spent six grand at the morris minor center having work done then won the lottery and bought a brand new fiesta (GO FIGURE!). She gave it to her niece to use as a first car but once she passed her test she went out and bought a saxo (again, go figure!) so it just sat in this guys garage for about five years till a friend told me about it. I bought it blind for £300. Risky but this time it paid off .
I've been over the workshop tonight having a dig about and theres a couple of little holes buy the rear axle but nothing an afternoon with the mig wont fix. I've been driving around charfleets industrial estate all night laughing my ass off, its just that sort of car that makes you smile .

I'm not 100% on wheels yet but i was thinking about some 7x15 deep dish steels in red with smooth hubcaps
and 195/45 tyres, sort of retro and modern at the same time. I'll probably have to trawl the autojumbles to turn some up though.

How's the Megasquirt-ing going? I still have to build mine but should be getting going on it soon

Mines not really got passed the planning stage yet. I'm going for motor bike throttle bodies and I'm breaking a 520i bm so that'll be good for injectors and sensors and stuff. Cos I'm using a zetec I need mappable ignition too so I'm going for a megasquirt 2 but I've not found anyone in this country that can supply them yet and theres a waiting list of up to 2 months from the states.
Its going to be a bit of a long term project which is why i've bought the minor so i can get out to some shows this year, dunno what they'll make of it at the classic ford show though ;D.

Love the car, but given my name I would!!
Never mind deseaming etc., Just bung some minilites on it and lower away. I know minilites are quite common these days , but they really suit the Minor.
If you really want steelies, Minor developments used to do 5X14 steels for the minor. Stick 175/65 X14 tyres on it and they'll look great. Anything smaller diameter will look lost in the arches.
Oh and keep that colour!
P.S. 1 spline = 1.5 " on the front suspension.

You wanna get a decent assister kit for the front mate! We do one at JLH that is easy to fit and is quite reasonable!

if u don't mind me giving my opinion.

keep the colour and body stock, slam it over red minor van steelies with baby moon hubcaps and stick a spridget motor in it. cheap , fun and doesnt take u away from what sounds like a wicked tina project.

I think thats gonna be my plan of action, keep it simple, I might even stick with the stock engine for the time being aswell. I just need to get away from that little old lady look and give it a bit more attitude.
