For sale is my mk2 GTi 8v. Its covered 138,000 miles and runs absolutely brilliantly. The best running digifant I have owned, no hunting idle, very quick unlike most laggy boggy digis that I have had, absolutely flew off the clock when I tried the other day(on a private track of course). Has returned 44MPG(MFA, and calculated) so is in perfect tune.
Only modifications to the engine are a drilled airbox, polished throttlebody and a scorpian backbox, apart from that its bog standard and hasnt been touched. New cambelt and tensioner. Oh it also has a solid front mount, makes such a difference to throttle response and there is no extra vibration.
Gearbox is very good but has a slight crunch between 1st and second if you try to change too quickly when its cold(for the first 5 minutes really), also got a weighted shift rod fitted, clutch feels very good no slipping etc.
All brakes are very good, handbrake works good(quite unusual for mk2 gtis with discs on the rear). Coilovers all round, adjustable from 30mm to 120mm, currently down around 100mm so its quite low but easily driveable daily and can be thrown into a corner, handles superbly and will outhandle most other things.
Standard GTi steels all been recently painted black and laquered so look very nice when cleaned up, all tyres have good tread on them but some of them have cracked sidewalls so could do with replacing if doing a lot of miles I guess, I have done plenty of miles on them with no trouble but I intended on buying alloys so never bothered. Good spare. Running a bit of negative camber on the back, looks cool, would look even better with something wide on.
Comes with the 3 spoke sporty steering wheel and boss. Has 16v Rear lights. Big 16v splitter & small splitter will also be included.
Front arches have been pulled and rolled so I can get full lock at that height. Power steering as well so turning, parking is very easy.
TAX till : June
MOT till : October
So plenty of motoring left in her and have had it up a few times to put coilovers on etc I can see NO reason why it wouldnt pass another MOT, if it failed it would only be tiny little things.
Extras:
Just ordered some brand new Pressed UK font plates so these will be included, as long as a chip for the ECU(have fitted this to all my 8v DIGIs and has made it noticebly smoother) Will fit(or include if you don't want it fitting) before sale.
BAD bits :
Rear arches are a little bit rusty at the bottoms, nothing terrible, would be covered up by arch spats(or quarter spats, have one just missing the other) just want to be totally honest.
A bit rusty in the lower corners of the rear valence
Bit rusty to the left of the passengerside tail light, easily repaired(filled) and painted over.
The paintwork isnt amazing, quite ratty, but is very cool and very different.
Externally(and some internally) it has been "de-gtid" to aid the sleeper look a little bit(done by last owner) but it is definately a GTi(rear discs, mfa trip, anti roll bars all round etc etc everything is gti spec including log book).
Looking for £800ono the car is located in a village called wimblington in Cambridgeshire PE15 postcode. Viewings welcome.
Fancy swapping for ANYTHING interesting really, doesnt have to be VAG just up for something interesting(would love a TDi/TD VAG but maybe asking a bit much). Doesnt have to have MOT but needs to be close to ready for one.
PM me any questions, or PM for my number if you prefer to talk over the phone?
Oh yeah and the colour is a beetle colour - Savannah beige
