Just wondering if anyone has had pain-in-the-ar$e neighbours like I seem to always get. You know the sort - interfering ar$e-holes with nowt better to do than moan about "old bangers" outside . I don't know why but I always get them. The guy across the road from where I used to live was always hovering outside whenever I was working on my car. The ones I currently have the misfortune to live next to were complaining about me having six cars outside (on MY property!) If I was building a conservatory or putting up a fence they wouldn't say anything, but because it's cars they seem to have a problem with it! People should get a life. There. Rant over.

I'd suggest the olive branch approach, find out EXACTLY what the problem is and work it.
Retaliation and " tricks " won't sort it out.
I know its bloody annoying, all my neighbours seem to be cool about it, but then i haven't started working on the vans sills yet, or started the bug up with its stinger on..... ;D

It does work both ways really. The way I see it in my village is i respect the fact that my Neighbours don't want to keep hearing reving engines and angle grinders and in return i expect them to respect the fact i like old cars.
I had the Imp outside on the road today with the Nymph on the drive having work done on it. One of my neighbours asked me if i was trying to corner the market in odd cars ;D

Basicly i just say yeh il try n do somethign about it but what can i do about it? 1. don't go to work ..... nope 2. Push my car 1/2 mile down the road before i start it ..... nope 3. Fit a crappy std exhaust.... nope 4. Ignore it.... yup that sems the best way forward

Hmm My rusty Sierra Classic is parked in the neighbors back yard. Other neighbor rebuilds his snowmobiles and truck engines out back. Just finished his garage. Used to do it all in snowstorms One or two down the back alley build oval track racers. One out front (and kitty corner) is rebuilding an early Charger I think I'm OK ;D

my road is full of old people, and they either let me work on my car, or i start letting the chavs lurk on the road again (they did before i had a kind word in there ear telling the to politely curse word off) so they kinda have it better than if i didnt, you need something to bargain with you see ;D

The cars aren't in their way or anything. I'm polite to them and considerate when contemplating grinding at 11pm (I don't tend to do that... ;D) Ah well. Takes allsorts I suppose.

I used to get a fair bit of bother with neighbours at the last house I lived at, one time the bloody old bag upstairs called the police because I was working on an Imp and she didn't like the noise of me working on the pavement (where else could I go, we didn't even have a lockup at the time and it wouldn't go in the garden! ) Bizarrely enough the coppers turned up and gave her into trouble for wasting their time, which is odd because it meant a copper actually not picking on someone with an old car ( ), but it might have been because he was a pretty old copper, who had driven an Imp panda car as a young copper (the Strathclyde Constabulary had loads of them, even up until the 80s when they really couldn't repair them anymore because nobody could get their hands on Imp spares what with the factory closed down etc) and he proceeded to spend ages talking about Imps to me, much to the discomfort of the other copper who was in the car waiting! ;D ;D ;D

If my neighbours did complain about my cars then I would moan about the roads being covered in horse s*it. Oh and the local church goers blocking our drive on Sunday mornings.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

i have 1 nabour that's moaning old fart he has a jag s type and thinks he owns the whole road moans if you park near his garage by near i mean within 30 yards of it moans if i go in my garage even if its just get get my cat out let alone work on it he actully the main reason i now have a workshop so i don't have to work on my car in the garage he never maons to me personaly but goes behind my back and moans to the council so i end up getting threatening letters about the exesive noise at using the garage to run a business (can't be a very profitable business what with me only ever having one car there) i put pay to the exessive noise bit by haveing a sound check done on the car(my v8 cortina)well below the limit and now the council pretty much ignor his complaints looking at him as a sort of boy who cries wolf plus i don't get to much from him now since his son tried to threaten me and got his kicked ;D
