After buying that Beetle and going to a VW show i got hooked on the whole idea, I then noticed VW's seem to be overpriced and under-spec, so i looked elsewhere and I found this beuty. You'll not of seen her cause she's at me Mum's house as you know what me neighbours are like! give me a shout and i'll take ya round and show her to ya!
On my Imp front, i've don't nothing more as yet, kinda stuck in a rut as what to do at the min. My mates building up a 6l v8 carlton to use as a drag car so i wouldn't mind having a go at that, stick a 2l 150bhp odd motor in the middle of the Imp should see times of 14 odd secs!

The camper looks ace! Might be worth trying the 'Classic Camper Club' for parts, my Dad was (maybe still is?) in this club with his old Bedford and VW campers and there was a few Commers knocking around last time I went to one of their meetings. Theres a 'For Sales' bit on their website, have a look: classiccamperclub.tripod.com/

She weights about 400kg, so with 150bhp, thats like 300ish bhp/ton, thats gotta be nippy!

Just found this - legendary choice of camper, definitely the thinking man's Veedub Bay. Holbay lump in one of these would be genius, and a set of airbags - it'd look like it was hovering! You seen the pro-street PB van project in the latest Custom Car?

Yeah, but would it fit without major fettling? 64impala on used to have one of these and he was keen to put a Senator lump and auto 'box in it, hiding the gear selecter under the dash. I thought that was a pretty cool idea. Did you ever the see the grey one in Retro Cars? That was the shizzle.

My dad had one exactly the same a '69, they were built by Auto-Sleeper in Evesham.
Humber Hawk diff will raise the gearing....add a Hunter overdrive for VERY relaxed cruising.
I loved driving his, great on the road, utterly useless on muddy campsites....he owned it from 1986 until about eight years ago when it succumbed to the dreaded tin-worm...but he's bought another one, almost exactly the same.......except it was converted and marketed by Commer themselves, uber-rare....it's a '62 with the early grille etc etc :-)

Wow, cool. Is that the grill with three chrome strips across? There's one of those at Beaulieu I seem to remember. One day I shall own one, oh yes, one day.

I want that grill I was thinking Vauxhall redtop, its been done somewhere. I reckon the v8 should just slip inbetween the chassis rails, now that would be scary 260ish bhp in a boat with wheels!

They're scary enough with 1725cc and about 80bhp!! Dad bust a piston in his once, had it rebuilt, 60thou overbore and some headwork, with the Humber diff and Hunter overdrive she absolutely flew. Iremember going down to Bristol Classic Car Show in it (when it actually WAS in Bristol..) 6-up down the M5 at a steady 80 ;D He gave me a lift to work in it one morning when it had been raining, if anyone knows the big island in Redditch at the end of the dual carriageway near Oakenshaw, he threw it into that and held it in a drift all the way round. I'm just looking gobsmacked at him as he grinned and uttered "Don't think you're the only f00ker in this family who can opposite-lock a motor" ;D
